Hmm. On a monitor its irritating but not so terrible. On chrome mobile the ads render the site totally useless.

....Yep. And when and where most folks who want to "chat" these days desire to do so quickly and unobstructedly on a mobile device, they'll likely stay on CF for about all of, oh, 2 seconds.

That, and the fact that few younger people even want to chat about the Christian faith any longer, let alone become a supporter on CF and gain the much coveted green label.

I know, it sucks. Not enough random strangers to argue with. I'm having to try to start arguments in real life with strangers on the street. Surprisingly, it usually goes less well than on here. Just yesterday, I was beaten up twice at the same bus stop.

I noticed it a few months ago when they had a change of either server or host. It seems a lot of people dropped out at that time.

Someone on another thread wanted it so that people he has on ignore can't see his posts. Maybe that became a thing and half the community has you blocked

I don't know. I've been wondering lately if it forums are worth it. Please note the plural. Part of it's feeling like there's just not a place to fit in. A big part of it is a sense of looking over your shoulder, wondering if what you post will be some sort of "violation." If you feel like you're always walking on eggshells, then what's the point? Can we even make that observation?

Like the ads. How far can we talk about them? The ads don't bother me because they were so annoying, I use a certain browser where I don't see them. Had the ads been less intrusive, I might not have bothered. Where I might have seen the occasional ad, now I see none.

Will pointing that out end up with the post deleted, the thread locked, and myself banned? Don't know. At the moment, don't really care.

Maybe that ambivalence is the answer to the question: People are leaving forums because they no longer enjoy it.
