As I pointed out in my quick response earlier, we're not disucssiong "nomadic people" like the Chyanne or Mongolians, but hunter/gatherers that live in very small ranges and often have semi-permanent dwellings. We're also not discussing people moving from one area to another and changing aspects of their lifestyles, but the wholesale loss or abandonment of technology within decades to centuries.
I'm doing this so often, I shall just dispense with my devil's advocate tag and trust your (collective) wise judgment to know when I'm speaking from a creationist quasi-POV. Italic's a big hint.
How do you know that the hunter-gatherers like the Khoi San and Tasmanians didn't actually choose the hunter-gatherer lifestyle? You speak of it as if the only reason they lost their technologies is because they were forgetful or intellectually incapable of holding on to them. Perhaps with their God-given intellect they realized that the hunter-gatherer lifestyle was the best one for their surroundings, and after a few generations of trial-and-error dropped all their culture and lived like hunter-gatherers.
