I still scratch my head when I see devout Christians who buckle their seatbelt or look both ways before crossing the street. If you really believe in the afterlife, why do they put so much effort in staying in this world? Why even go see a doctor?

If we took good care of ourselves we would not need to go to the doctor. The flesh can be difficult to take care of sometimes. We overeat or eat the wrong foods, we don't exercise enough, we do not control stress as well as we should. All of that has an effect on our health. Not even getting into a discussion of the people with a high risk lifestyle, with STD's, or alcohol and drug problems. This is why we look forward to a would where there is no more pain, suffering or sickness. Why should God give us a glorified body if we have not proven ourselves with our temporal body. If we are a good steward over what we have then He knows He can trust us with more. For those who are faithful in the little things can be trusted with bigger responsibilities. That is why we are told to never dispise the day of small beginning because things can grow. How many companies like Walt Disney started out in their garage and grew to be large companys that outlive the person that began them.

It was implied that if you ate right that you would never get sick and die, hence the lack of need for doctors. That is what I was replying to.

On a separate matter, I was asking why Christians go see doctors when they are feeling ill or are suffering from life threatening diseases.
