Well, at least in hell I won't have to see the look on the victims' faces when they find out they'll be spending eternity with their rapist. I wonder if that's why child abuse is so common among clergy; it's not like they lose their spot in heaven for it, amirite?



Well, I'm not worried because I think heaven and hell are silly concepts and don't exist.

Abuse among clergy is fairly uncommon , a mere fraction of clergy even have acusations against them ( still far too many though )

I don't believe your scripture is authoritative so I remain unconcerned. In my opinion any deity that needs to win followers with threats is corrupt and unworthy of worship.

Actually those scriptures are not a threat to transform you into a believer.
This is written to believers to explain what will happen to mockers.
Look at the apostles writings, they identify their subjects, and it is the church, or like this

So you see these scriptures are not written to unbelievers, but only those called to be saints.

Not if they are saved christians, they wont believe such a thing.
Look at what Christ says exactly here in v37. However there are no righteous people except if they are in Christ having then His righteousness, so already we know these righteous are His children, not of the world.

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

So we see Christ is talking family members now. And He also early mentions dividing sheep from goat. Christ is the door of the sheep, not the goats. Christ dies only for the sheep, meaning Christ is the way to God for the sheep. Can not get to God except by that doorway. There are no family of God except they be in Christ, all others are of Satan.

John 10:7
[ Jesus the Good Shepherd ] Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

John 10:8
All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.

I don't know about you folks, but when somebody tells me they believe a popular celebrity is being tormented in a cosmic torture camp for having the wrong party affiliation, and then tell me to go and join the "right" party to avoid a similar fate, that makes me less likely to see them (and the beliefs they try to sell) in a positive light. And that's putting it mildly.

As far as I can tell, this interpretation of Christianity is basically religious Stalinism.

It does not affect me one way or the other, and is not up to me where you end up. If you repent and believe and endure in faith till the end of your life, then you will be in heaven. And otherwise burning in eternal fire.
John the baptist says exactly that. If your not His, your chaff and weeds, and chaff-weeds destiny is to be burnt.
Also, take a look at the parable of the wheat and the tares, and the end of each of them. It is not hard to read or long.

Well, you must understand scripture with other scripture or you will get off base.
Christ tells us He is the way, truth, life and none come to God but by Him. So adding in another theme does not make any sense. Pretty soon all the understanding turns into mush.

Yes... And the people of the first covenant had their issue as well... God chooses to let the tares and the wheat grow up together and will deal with the tares in the last day.

I believe in the seven churches as ages...

Ephesus - Messianic - Beginning with the Apostle Peter - The Apostle to the circumcision.
Smyrna - Martyr - Beginning with the Apostle Paul. Early Orthodox formed in this time.
Pergamos - Orthodoxy formed in this time... Pergos is a tower... Needed in the dark ages
Thyatira - Catholicism formed in this time - The spirit of Jezebel is to control and to dominate.
Sardis - Protestantism formed in this time- A sardius is a gem - elegant yet hard and rigid
Philadelphia - Wesleyism formed in this time - To be sanctioned is to acquire it with love.
Laodicea - Charismatic movement formed in this time - Rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing?

Violence was common in the Roman Empire and in the Barbaric world. Pergos is a tower... Needed in the dark ages... And Constantinople could have used help against the Ottoman Turks! The church has come through much violence in its history. If you had Ottoman Turks, Mongolian Huns, and Germanic Barbarians knocking on your door your options would have been to get violent or die! Though I am Wesleyan it served the purpose in its times, which continually change through the ages.
