My mom asked for help at the last minute before she died. If you want, I can type down of what she exactly wrote. As for my dad.

I know you are looking for reassurance, but that's not necessary.

Maybe I may have to go to a bible teaching class or a group. I've read some phrases in it but someone really has to teach me it deeply. I'm afraid I won't understand it alone. I have a friend who became a christian and we talk about it at times. However, we now talk once in a while b/c he now has a lot going on and same with me. So if I understand correctly. (and please correct me if I'm 100% wrong) If say "lord have mercy on me for I'm a sinner and forgive me" that still doesn't mean repenting?

Repenting is trusting in Jesus alone for your salvation - it means changing your heart to trust in and depend on Him, rather than anything or anyone else.

Idk if this thread belongs in the right section. If not I'm sorry (I'm new here FYI). As a catholic growing up (and please forgive me if this sounds both inaccurate and naive), I always thought "if you never committed any evil in your life (murder or rape for example), you will go to heaven". But if you did "you will go to hell". However, my family never wanted to talk to me about this topic b/c it was upsetting to them. I am now just learning that it has to do with you accepting Christ in your life and have him forgive you for your sins. And then there's judgment day where I learned that you go in to deep sleep til Christ returns and decides where your soul should belong to. If I'm mistaken to anything I typed in, again I am sorry. I just need a definite answer to my question. I have to admit something. My mom died 10 years ago from an car accident. The autopsy couldn't tell if she feel asleep in the car, had a heart attack, stroke, etc. It just said blunt impact. This bothered me so much I ended up seeing a medium. Only b/c I wanted to know how she passed. Unfortunately he couldn't give me a straight answer. All he just told me that she felt "fuzzy". I had no clue what he meant by that. He did tell me (now idk if this was real or BS) that she was up in heaven already. Same goes with my dad. Sadly he died too. Here's the thing though. Right before she died, she got so depressed after breaking up with her boyfriend. She wrote a note to Christ for help her. Unfortunately I found the note 2 years later while cleaning her room. So til this day, I still question myself of where you will go after death and is my mom really in heaven? Or is it a lie?

"So til this day, I still question myself of where you will go after death and is my mom really in heaven? Or is it a lie?"

These are really important questions. You will receive many differing answers as they have been, are and will continue to be "debated". Because of that, really best to spend some time (a lot of time) yourself in Gods Word and pray for the Holy Spirit to lead you to the truth of these matters.

"This bothered me so much I ended up seeing a medium."

Gods Word says we are not to do this.

Leviticus 19:31

31“You must not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out, or you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.

Isaiah 8:19

19When men tell you to consult the spirits of the dead and the spiritists who whisper and mutter, shouldn’t a people consult their God instead? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?

There are very very good reasons not to seek out mediums/spiritists

Ecclesiastes 9:5

For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten.

"She wrote a note to Christ for(to) help her."

She was no doubt going directly to Christ with a sincere heart.

Be encouraged.

Psalm 34:18

18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

The saving grace of our Lord can happen in a heartbeat. Remember the thief on the cross who was saved.

God looks at the heart and is the only one that knows the heart.

Romans 8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

It is the will of God that as many as possible be saved.

Regarding the state of the dead ... many different teachings on this. I used to believe upon earthly death ... one either went to heaven, or hell ... but after throughly studying this out for myself ... I no longer believe this.

Here are several verses why. (and there are others verses/reasons why) Pay particular attention to 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 as Paul sums it up very clearly.

State of the Dead

Psalm 90:3-6

You turn man back into dust And say, "Return, O children of men." For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it passes by, Or as a watch in the night. You have swept them away like a flood, they fall asleep; In the morning they are like grass which sprouts anew.

"Why then do You not pardon my transgression And take away my iniquity? For now I will lie down in the dust; And You will seek me, but I will not be."

Job 14:10-12

"But man dies and lies prostrate Man expires, and where is he? "As water evaporates from the sea, And a river becomes parched and dried up, So man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no longer, He will not awake nor be aroused out of his sleep.

Revelation 14:13

And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them."

John 11:11-14

This He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep." The disciples then said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover." Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep. 14 Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died,

Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them!" Having said this, he fell asleep.

1 Corinthians 15:6

After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep;

John 5:28-29

"Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

Job 14:13-15

"Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me! "If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change comes. "You will call, and I will answer You; You will long for the work of Your hands.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

A lot of info here ... and have a lot more I'd like to say ... but ... posts tend to get too long ;o)

You need to study for yourself ... and see for yourself, always before opening the Word of God pray to Him to send His Holy Spirit to guide you to the truth.

God Bless.
