  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where does your 'nick' come from?

Hmm...nick? Oh, oh, okay. Got it.
I just recently changed mine (Duh). I was born in Mayberry, North Carolina, and Mom and Dad go by either 'Mayberry' (that's Dad's nickname) or 'Mrs. Mayberry' (that's Mom's) so I'm just 'Miss Mayberry'. Everyone calls me Opie, but Miss Mayberry is so much more feminine.

My user name bears no resemblance to my high school nickname, which was created after some guys overheard my Year 7 history teacher referring to me as "Captain Courageous" after volunteeering to go first for an assessment that involved a speech. The courageous bit fell off by Year 9, and mainly it was "Cap" through years 11 and 12. I've seen some friends in the past year or so and they've either forgotten the nickname or grown up, since they've called me Kristian, which is of course my first name.

I thought Kristian was another way of spelling Christian Kris, and an ingenious thought for as nickname!

Tell you the truth I hated it at first (the nickname). But if that's all people are going to call you, you get more used to it and let it stick. Kristian is a derivative of Christian; I got the K so that if people abbreviated my name I wouldn't get confused with my Dad (his name is Chris). Some friends at church also call me "Big K" in reference to my height, and "Special K" because of the breakfast cereal.

mine was just started from when i got a hotmail address in year 9 with the numbers 42 in it. Ever since then it's stuck and everything's 42.

Mine came from another Christian friend's nickname called "Crashman" who shares the same birthdate as me, except he's 8 years older.

To add a variation it refers to my state of mind and often my PC. ;-)

Crashedman :p

mine is soooooooooooooooooo obv i think.

what can i say this song really impacted me it was part of the reason i became a christian and has inspired me in worship since then. when the lads in the room next door to me were high on drugs i was yelling (singin loudly - which with my wonderful accent equates to yelling) shout to the lord.

since then i found out who the author was and her life has inspired me also in so many ways. so well there ya go.

Before I became a Christian, wolves were considered my "totem" animal, and still are one of my favorite species, and lilies are my birthflower. Also, they symbolize two big parts of my personality: fiestiness and tenderness, and also two of my spiritual gifts: creativity and mercy.
