How's come when something like the Challenger or Deepwater Horizon is successful, it's because science has improved our quality of life so well; but when something like the Challenger or Deepwater Horizon happens, it's suddenly corporate's fault?

These 'executive employees' you mentioned -- none of them are/were scientists?

This is why I say science runs on the No True Scotsman Principle.

Do you understand the difference between the application of science and what a "scientist" is?

No, and I don't really care.

I lump the applications, successes and failures, and scientists under one umbrella: science.

Science, to me, has a personnel department and an operations department.

Just like you guys lump Christians in with Old Testament rules and regulations, and want us to hunt witches; or lump us in with historical events, and want us to march off on some Crusade, or drag people before a board of inquisition.

So then either:

A. It is OK for us to lump Christians in with Old Testament rules and regulations.

or

b. You admit that what you do with "science" is wrong.

Why not take the high road and show us the right way via example?

How many of you guys -- including you -- responded to: Emmy, sister in Christ?

I mean had a serious conversation with her?

If we were all like her -- (God bless her!) -- you guys would just have carte blanches.

Is that an answer? I don't recall Emmy, sister in Christ... What would we have carte blanches to do?

Nobody wants you to hunt witches or go on crusades. We're merely pointing out the hypocrisy of you saying you're a biblical literalist, when in fact you are clearly not.

Now I know you don't take criticism, or anything else for that matter, onboard, but please remember this post for the next time you feel like bringing this up.

First of all, thanks so much for ignoring my post. I'll take your silence as indicative of an inability to answer my question.

Second, why do you think 40 million gallons of oil leaked into the gulf? It's because the scientists involved with the Macondo field (primarily geologists and geophysicists) did their jobs perfectly. Their science led them to that spot, and they drilled into a hugely successful play. If they had failed, we wouldn't even know what a Macondo was, because the only thing at the bottom of the hole would have been water.

Interestingly, the well that had the blowout was the lowest-producing well in the field. Good thing.
