Apparently, 40% of young people don't get their "news" from any
established news source. They are listening to "influencers" online.

I am continually emphasizing that Christians should read from a large
array of news sources. Instead of reading or listening to only ONE
source of conspiracy theories (that was a joke).

Google is infamous regarding what it filters out.

My news sources...

* Two international publications that cover Europe and the Middle East.
* One channel that covers American news with commentary.
* One channel that covers American and local news with commentary,
* One channel that covers the labor market.
* Three channels that cover financial news with commentary.
* One channel that covers the government and military with commentary.
* Two channels that cover major events from a spiritual perspective.

I don't watch mainstream news or read the paper but many of the stories are covered elsewhere. The common denominator in most of my sources (save the first two) is their belief in God and public acknowledgment of Christ.

To me ... "news" is something that is actually happening by something/someone and reported by someone who is actually there .... there is tons of opinion and commentary within the various "news agencies" ... getting "news" from one source is just allowing yourself to be spoon fed ,,, yes one should search out many "news sources" ... can be a daunting task.

Yes, a wide variety of sources. Never accept the story on its face from the first source. You have to find multiple sources, and then sometimes link back through those sources to find out what really happened. And check the independent journalists.

Yup. Sources that use actual journalists (as opposed to ‘entertainers’ that have no journalistic obligations) are always required. And as one of my daughter’s English teacherstaught: if it is something that you really want to be true, then you need to find even more independent sources. Because that is when we are most vulnerable to misinformation.

I get most of my news from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) website.

The second placed source is the local Channel 7 news on the free to air TV. That's because I'm usually cooking or eating our evening meal around 6pm to 7pm, and might watch or listen from time to time. That is my wife's main source of daily news, although she listens to a local Christian station if she's driving the car.

I don't listen to radio as I'm hard of hearing, and I'm not interested in most of the topics anyway. In the case of music unless I know a song, I'm unlikely to be able to discern the words.

I don't rely on influencers at all, apart from (usually) Catholic sources if it's regarding religion but that's more for opinion pieces than news.

The ABC tends to be a bit left wing, but their reporting is usually accurate. And they don't clutter up their web page with advertisements.

I remember learning about the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How of journalism in eighth grade social studies.

True journalism is dying art form.

There are some truth tellers still out there, I wish more of them were disciples of Christ, but you take your nuggets where you can find them.

Substack is where the real journalism can be found these days. And if you have not used the Yandex search engine, give it a try. It may be the only remaining portal to the world wide web that has not come under control of the cabal.
