It may seem like a lot to do at first but as you get used to it , it will become easier, and the best part is you will know you are pleaseing the L-rd. When I say the Shema at sundown and then light the candles and bless the L-rd for His light I can feel the Ruach desend upon me and it is powerful and overwhelming and then you really know.

It may be elaborate but you have all day to rest AND I feel that every Shabbat dinner is for the L-rd and He is present at the table, and nothing could be too elaborate for Him, Amein?

Thank you so much!
I'm very excited to get started and Love that you gave us the recipe too.
I'm sure this will sound dumb but what happens after the meal? Do you clean up and wash dishes.....do you fast til the next evening.....how do we spend this time? Also, do the candles burn throughout til the next sundown or do we blow them out after dinner?
My daught bought us shawls for praying. I'm sure I'll stick out in a crowd now though as I pray throughout the day. I have official prayer time at morning and before I go to bed but I have also an ongoing conversation with G-d all through the day.
The not touching or shaking hands with a member of the opposite sex will be a challenge for me indeed, certainly being a business owner but more so because we are the hugging sort. The greeting with a holy kiss sort of thing.......it's symbolic of opening your heart to someone when you open your arms and embrace them to your heart.....like saying that I recieve you in true godly love...so it will feel odd at first although at least I haven't defiled? anyone because i was in menses as I had to have a full hysterectomy in my early 20's to save my life. (thank the L-ord for providing my children in my youth.)

I'm sure to get blasted for this....

But that stuff is not biblical. It is rabbinical and tradition. There is nothing wrong with it...and I wouldn't call you a "legalist" for following your conviction (actually I would admire you)

But the Sabbath was made for man. It is a day of ceasing from our own works...a release from the burden of Adam.

I would ask the Lord how He wants you to remember it. Man's wisdom is so lame compared to Him.
