  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where Do Christ and Truth Separate?

I have been told that because I believe in truth I do not qualify as one of Christian belief.

To me this seems a bit odd as both God and Christ Jesus espouse truth as being an absolute requirement for Christian Faith....or at least that's what they teach in the Bible. The Apostles believed in truth, they lived it as a way of life, and so does God teach it as His way, as well as the Way to life.

So I'm somewhat confused as to how one who believes in God, believes in Christ, and believes in the power of the Holy Spirit can be accused of NOT believing in Christian teaching and principles.

Any thoughts or explanations?

What you should do is to ASK WHY?
If the person could not give an explanation, then IGNORE IT.
If the person give an explanation, then what is it?

I believe that God has revealed to ' man ' in general what he needs to know of the truth at this time. God teaches that is ALL that which He knew were written down the earth could not contain the books.

I believe that God reveals to individuals that of the truth which they require to perform whatever commission it is that He has given them...assuming He has given them one.

I believe God reveals truth on a 'need to know' basis.

I was told it was because my beliefs did not conform to what was accepted/understood as a group's/sect's definition of what constituted Christian belief, or that which was recognized as being Christian belief.

Here is the question again:

I think the question is about believing the protestant version of the Bible being the only truth and it being inerrant. All Christians do not even believe that.

If you want to know what i mean to ask, then simply ask what truth am I speaking of. Otherwise know The Whole "truth" in which I speak of here is not so broad as to encompass the whole of scripture. The OP asked, "Where does Truth and Christ separate?" The Whole Truth I am speaking of deals with in the confines of the OP's parameters.

Since "the truth" is somewhat of a buzzword among the Jehovah's Witnesses, and you seem to be dancing around the topic, are you in fact talking about the JW? While I happen to have the highest regard for the JW (please spare me your shock, outrage and dismay, those of you who regard them as agents of Satan), the fact is that they will not regard you as a true Christian unless you accept "the truth" as they understand it. (The same is, of course, true of many other demoninations - the JW are just unusually honest about it.)

Dear rubicontwentytwelve. When Pontius Pilot asked Jesus: " What is Truth?" Jesus anwered him: " I am the Truth," and we know that Jesus is " The Tuth, The Way, and The Life. Your answer to where do Christ and the truth separate, is: Jesus will always be The Truth in Christianity, and they will never separate. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, sister in Christ.

Be led by the spirit of truth and be led by God. It matters not what others say, only the words of your creator. Go to God alone and seek his answers. You are closer than many to finding out what REAL truth is. Stay away from churches and seek God with your whole heart. Pour it out and ask God to fill it back with truth and you will be astonished!

The whole truth has yet to be revealed, as God states, there are things of God that are as yet not revealed. When God reveals them, IF I happen to be one of those lucky enough to qualify for such , I expect I would believe them in proving them.

As for the 'W' hole truth, I assume you refer to the Bible; in which case yes. If you are referring to the Spirit of God as being whole, yes. If you are referring to God being singular, yes,... there is only God.

Now, you could be referring to the Word, as his title is also truth, and he is whole, ... in which case yes.

Shall I continue or does that answer your question?

The whole Truth of God as God has revealed it would mean all of the truth God has given us to this point. That would be the bible. So next questions are as follows: Is the bible the only revelation of God? Is the bible complete? Is the cannon of scripture been closed in the 66 books of the old and new testament?

Exactly which Christian teaching and/or principles are you talking about?

When people say things like, I believe, because that's what the Bible says, doesn't necesarily mean it's really true because man-made doctrines come into play. They simply believe it because that is what they were told. So it's necessary to know which Christian principles you are speaking of.

As a believer, we don't follow principles anyway, we follow Christ.

RR, I have to disagree with you, I find that churches are a place where the Spirit can minister exceedingly to us. I find it is good to go round various churches to hear how the spirit is moving in the world, and not lock yourself down to one church. When was the last time you went to a different church to hear what the Spirit is saying?

No, I'm not JW. As for dancing around the topic; I'm merely trying to find out what is considered to be 'truth' by those responding to the question. Do I have an answer to the question I presented? Of course; otherwise I would not have presented it.... but it was not my answer I was first and formost interested in but rather how others would respond to the question, or, if the question was even understood in the first place.

As yet it would seem as if it was not.

If Jesus will always be the truth in Christianity; ...what about the fiction, and to what extent can truth be diluted with fiction before it itself is rendered ineffectual?
