I often, very often, ask for prayers for street children. Problem is that in my church many people are starting to laugh at me about that because I'm boring tthem.

Now I am thinking about not bringing the question again. Seems absurd to ask for prayers when it serves for nothing. What is worse is how alone I feel.

Sorry for the rant I just needed to tell to somebody.

It's very rude for people to laugh at someone for asking for prayer for someone else. Prayers aren't supposed to be for the purpose of entertaining the church.

That said, perhaps you could modify the way that you ask for prayers. Do you go into a long-winded speech each time you ask? If so, try being more concise and to the point.

Hello Graysparrow,

To say that praying for street children "serves for nothing" is wrong! Obviously the Lord had you moved in the Spirit to pray for those children. The only thing that is absurd, is that people of God would laugh at such a prayer request. I have to say that something is very wrong with that church.

(If I were you, I would ask the Lord about staying in church that suggest your prayer request is "boring" or worthless)

Praying is not to entertain, please, and/or bore anyone. It is our way to communicate to God. He hears every prayer... and each prayer counts. Yes, even your one prayer counts! and the Lord listening to you.

Keep praying for those children, and to add to it, I have said a prayer for them too. So i've joined you in this prayer for them. Be blessed and keep on praying!

Well it certainly feels like sometimes that we are butting our head against a wall. But if God put you there, then keep on butting your head. I say that because God does nothing without purpose. You may not see the reason right now, maybe not even in this life, but it is there.

For example I suffer from certain problems(what they are is not important) but these problems and my responses put me in a position to help others. Now the suffering does not feel good. I feel very low at times. Yet often it is when I am so low that I am most inspired. My words feel they are the most of God.

I feel a similar conviction about porn stars. Though I do rarely bring it up. They are a group of people whom Jesus died for. They are underserved. Yet all I can do is pray for them.

do you have a prayer group at church ?
do you have your prayer language ( glossalia , tongues )?

some times a burden for some folks is a call to minister to them ...

remeber the story of the persistent woman and the unrighteous judge
.... when you pray , do like the widow ....

it's ok ... share , speak , ask , do what you can ... enlist others
sow seed , that in due season you will reap .

It is good to know that you are taking time to ask for prayers for these kids! Everyone needs prayers and to exclude them from the prayer list.... well it's just wrong and absurd! Trust me, God hears your prayers and they are not in vain! Just because the people from your church feel that it is a laughing matter doesn't mean that it is not something that should be taken seriously! God helps his faithful servants! Keep on praying!

Dont let them discourage you, keep bringing it up and when a change happens to those who you are praying for it will be a testimony to those who now laugh.I had a similar situation happen to me as a young teenager. At every youth meeting we would have prayer requests, and for four years straight i would request prayer for my father to get saved,i did it so often that i didnt even need to request it they would just automaticly pray for him everytime we had special prayer. And four years to the day i started doing that,he finally came to Christ. To this very day i run into folks that went to that church and every one of them has told me how much of a blessing and an encouragment i was for being deligent and never giving up until the answer came and he came to christ. These were some of the same people who would laugh and make jokes as well.Make up your mind and get it down in your heart that no matter what that"none of these things shall move me".I encourage you to stay faithful, and you just may be the answer to someones prayer.God Bless

Prayers don't always have to be spoken....there are others who are prayer for them too....I once put a note in everyone's mailbox at my church telling them to pray for the homeless.....I really love them....but maybe it's something more between you and God...or maybe you could start your own agency to help them?
