  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When will they ever learn?

So why does the US (often aided and abetted by other western countries) keep getting bogged down in Middle East quicksands?
When will they ever learn?

Another question is should loyal Americans support (whatever "support" means) their government even if they didn't vote for it and/or don't agree with its policies. If the answer is yes then surely that applies whichever party forms the government.

I saw a survey on CNN (so leftist) that showed that most Americans considered their opinion on this war to be independent of their views about Trump. The case for degrading the Iranian regime should therefore be decided on its own merits not on the basis of opposition or support for Trump personally.

Right now the USA is not bogged down as their troops are deployed in friendly Sunni countries who are also victims of Iranian aggression. They are capable of degrading the capabilities of the IRGC and Iranian police state without committing to a land war.

The main issue here is the level to which Iran is a long term nuclear threat that for ideological reasons could be considered foolish enough to actually start a nuclear war. There is a credible case to be made that this threat is a clear and present danger to the USA and its allies, though the Europeans do not have the stones to support the USA thus far in doing what is necessary. This is a more long term effort than many short termist politicians in the West have a stomach for but it is also a test of whether democracy can compete against the autocracies that now threaten it in Russia, China and Iran.

Well the evidence of history is they will never learn and the rhetoric of this conflict also indicates that.

As for having "stones" well where was the US in 1914 or 1939/40 when countries had actually been invaded. The US was looking after its own perceived national interest of course. Vance showed his ignorance about UK and French involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq. Maybe he should visit this memorial the next time he's in London. Joe Kent said Iran posed "no imminent threat". Trump bad mouthing Kent is meaningless of course. The US/Israeli sneak attack on Iran is Pearl Harbour in reverse. Anyway, given that the Iranian alleged nuclear weapons programme was 100% completely obliterated last summer and has been 100% completely obliterated again, and that Trump has said the US doesn't need any help, what are you moaning about?

Iran was nowhere close to a nuclear bomb, experts say

(I have a feeling you will call Scientific Amercian "leftist")

You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
Rev 3:17
It seems that God doesn't measure a nation's worth by how big their army is.

Still with the price of oil up Trump's mate Vladi will be pleased.

GOP administrations are addicted to foreign wars. You vote in the GOP you get foreign wars.

Maybe stop voting in the GOP?
