  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

September 1, 2001; Moby Dick by Herman Melville. I only finished it because it's a classic. Usually when I can't get into a book, I give myself permission to quit after 100 pages or so.

And I just have to say this, maybe I'm exposing my ignorance, or my rustic sensabilities, but I read this book because it's so often referenced as one of the greatest literary works ever written. But, my honest opinion is that Melville's writing style is like wading through quick sand.

When was the last time you read a non-fiction book (excluding cook books) ?

If you don't count school textbooks, it would be mid May. I was reading Backwoods Ethics. It's about low impact hiking and camping. I can't think of the authors' names, but they're a husband and wife. Waterman maybe? Good book, but I put it aside when I found out I wouldn't be hiking Mt Katahdin this summer after all.

When was the last time you went for a hike?

I know hon. I posted that question before I scrolled up to read the rest of the page. I was thinking of myself. I have a mother's/wife's habit of overseeing everything. And I have an awful time letting anyone ever do anything for me without feeling I either need to A. help, or B. critique.

I wrote a letter to my father after my grandmother died. So,...a few weeks ago?

When was the last time you saw a glitch at this site? (I just saw one a minute ago. My subscribed threads said DaffodillysDad posted your post. )
