Dumb question but I'm new at this reading daily and praying thing. When do you do this? I always have to be up at 630 am and I'm not a morning person so I have been doing this at like 7 or 8 in the evening. Is that bad? I keep hearing, "Give God your freshest moments." But my freshest moments aren't the same as someone elses. I don't function in the morning. My freshest moments are later on in the day.

I learned about 90% of what I know about God at night. For me this is prayer, considering Christ's word. Talking with him as one might a friend or a father figure.

"We I learn from Jesus Christ that I may pray anywhere and everywhere. He prayed in the mountain and He prayed in the field. He prayed under the olive-trees and in the temple. He prayed as He walked along the roads of Galilee. He prayed on the cross. I may pray anywhere. "

That is beautiful friend. You are not hindered by only looking to pray at appointed times. I am the same. When I 'remember' God I like to chat and chill with Him. Pardon my way of saying this. In our own words, with absolute honesty and humility. The Spirit is like the wind. We cannot predict when it will blow. Neither can we predict Divine inspiration and the prompting of the spirit to talk with God or merely to sit back and listen. God is drawing you unto Himself.

God bless.

I can definitely relate. I don't function in the morning either, and getting up early just isn't an option for people like us. If your freshest moments are at night, then by all means, read then. The time of day isn't really important as long as you can take your time and aren't nodding off.

The one other suggestion I'd have is to try to find time once in a while to take walks outside to mediate on what you've read. It's really cool to walk in the woods while you consider the readings of the week.

I would say read whenever you can get alone, whether morning or night or mid day, and pray as much as possible. You don't have to get on your knees every single time to pray, God cares much more about your heart being humbled in prayer than an outward physical sign of humility (getting on your knees) The main thing about reading is to just try to be alone with God so when He speaks to you, and He will if you listen, you can hear without the distractions of everyday life. :) God bless!

I too struggle so much in the mornings but any time you can give to god in the mornings is precious time because if he is the first thing you think of and dedicate your time to it will be the last thing you think of, But I do understand that you have your freshest times, so maybe you could dedicate a small time in the morning just starting your day with him. Then more time later with him at night, try not to worry about this god knows your heart in all of this. God Bless

The thing about Christianity is that it is a relationship with God, not a set of rules.

So, you choose when you want to do the praying and reading thing. God will delight in you and your company no matter what time you choose.

Blessings,

Mike

You can do it at anytime. I would check your day and find specific times when you can be alone and pray and read the scriptures real good. I have found usually really early in the morning or at times at evening when this is best. Sometimes during the weekends I go to the library and use their bible and spend time there.

I always pray before I read the word like it says in Psalm 119 "Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law."

Lol God isn't looking at when you do it...he's looking at your heart. As long as you put God 1st and seek to no him better like having bestfriend or girlfriend lol it doesn't matter when you do it. Always put God 1st and everything else 2nd.

I worked a job for the better part of a year starting at 10:00 am. It was a long drive there and I listened to preaching in the morning on the way there.

I made sure I got to this nearby park about 30-40 minutes early and would put on some worship music and just praise the Lord. I would read a little from the Word. I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes in the day to do this.

I'm historically not a morning person (defined as one who prefers the morning as their "best"). My last work had me there at 7:00 am and it was a good drive. I did find a spot 15 minutes early and this was a big help too. Not as much as the 30-40 minute prayer time, but it definitely helped. I usually sang in the car on the way there.

I don't think God minds if you start small and let Him work with you in the way of desire to increase,
at whatever time you choose to enter in. A quiet separated time is best. Some worship in the morning is VERY helpful, whether in the car or at home.

Try and get into the habit of establishing your walk with the Lord in the morning, even if it is just a few quick minutes of prayer, and meditating on His Word, maybe while you are showering is a good start. Let Him work the increase and don't be "religioius" about a "regimen". Be free and don't let the enemy condemn you from not being overly disciplined. Let grace be established.

Reciting some of the Word out loud helps out a lot too. The priests in the OT ministered in the morning, and if you can swing it, there is a special blessing God appoints in the morning.

Here's something God turned me on to from someone who visited Heaven and God told her to tell His people to do this in the A.M.

"Father, I ask and receive grace for today" (I add "in Jesus' name").

You'll see a difference! Since I've started, I don't think I have missed a day. She said to do this right away, but some mornings I don't seem to "thaw out" until my shower, so as soon as the water turns off, I'm praying this prayer.

When it comes to prophetic revelation or anything someone tells you: Always test it in the peace of God. Hold fast to what is good. If it works in your life, hold fast and be blessed!
