Faith In God
A little FIG is all we need...
wife ?= wealth ????Olga said:"Do not resist an evil person" has nothing to do with this situation as it makes sense when concerning your own life ONLY. First of all we are responsible for what we are trusted with. But if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? (Lk.16:11)
why did you cite this? I will not 'own' my wife.''The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.'' (Jn.10:12) ''While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.'' (Jn.17:12)
love = concern for eternal well-being according to the bible. I never said anything about letting! sheesh. I said (third time) that if the guy had the choice between a guy shooting his wife or the guy shooting the would-be murderer, which would be better; to have the murderer alive so that he may have a better chance to repent perhaps, or to do evil myself and send the man straight to hell, even though the wife would go to heaven?Okey, you aren`t going to love your wife much enough to kill someone for her sake BUT would you also let the same guy murder you children?
This theoretical situation was not meant to be a thing about self-defense. I was talking about when it is okay to kill, which i think it is never justified. i will do anything that is not sin ('sin is transgression of the law') ie dispose my life, bound the man, take the gun, something of that nature, but would not kill the man. why? because doing so is sin. sin is transgression of the law, and the law says 'thou shalt not kill'. now the government has a God-given right through the courts to execute (if you wanna argue, try another thread; off-topic to argue this), but we as individuals do not have the right to kill another human being.
