• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

When did this happen?

I was just reading on another thread about whether God has a special someone for you or not and all of a sudden the topic turned to the bible has alot of inconsistencies and errors and the people posting aren't even christians by their own admission.
WHY are they posting on a Christian forum then? And why do they have avatars that make them appear they are believers?
And since when is the bible not a reliable book that was written by men inspired by God?

I am beside myself, I just don't know what to think.

I don't spend much time thinking about those things these days. But the more Christians I know the more differences I see from among us. Yet we know some aren't really in Love with Jesus, and its God's job to deal with them.

I was gonna make a comment but it's not really worth it. I have friends on here that are knowingly not Christian. I don't mind if they are up front about it. I guess I dislike the outward appearance of being a Christian and then they want to tell me how messed up the bible is. But that seems to just be the sign of the times.

I don't think I will ever start another thread. No one ever really wants to comment on my threads so I will just go away quietly now. 37 views 1 response. Story of my life. Oh well.

Since I came here specifically BECAUSE this was a Christian forum...I have been perplexed why anyone who wasn't a Christian would even want to post on this forum? I mean, Christian is in the NAME. I don't get this either. But at least I don't feel obligated to be PC on my personal belief system.

Michelle,
I remember about 18 yrs ago I was in a home group. The topics I was thinking about was never brought up in the discussion they had. Sometimes we have things to think thru and that interest us that others aren't thinking about.

I think many of the issues posted about here are of interest to Christians and non Christians alone. So that would attract people that aren't Christians. But also some secular message boards have some people on them that are very hurtful in what they say and how they say it. Even tho some comments here are edge they aren't anywhere near as bad as other sites I have been apart of. So it can be a lot more enjoy able place for even non Christians. At least that is my guess! LOL

I avoid the Singles forum as much as possible. The people are rude, confrontational, and not biblically sound at all. Every thread turns into something negative, it seems. I like things better here where we can discuss delicate topics and still show maturity and politeness, even though from time to time things can get heated.

As far as the views with no responses, realize a lot of people read these forums who aren't mature or single, so they often don't feel they have the right to post. I know a few people who aren't old enough yet, but they prefer to read our threads because they aren't as caustic as the regular forums.

I usually only read/post on weekdays myself. :)

OK I'll stay :). Seriously I wasn't going to LEAVE I'm just not going to start any threads because I don't usually get many responses so I guess I'm on a different mindset than alot of folks around here. It's OK I'm just visiting on this planet anyway, my home is eternity with Jesus and I don't think I will EVER tire of the conversations with Him or any of the Saints. :D

It didn't use to be that way and I don't understand the allowance of it now. When they start bashing the bible like its just a novel or something and others are there agreeing with them, I do have a problem with that because this is a Christian forum. I don't care if non-christians post, like I said there are some that post and I like them and they are respectful of the forum, but it should not be allowed to post such negative thoughts on a Christian forum, so hence my question when did this happen? I used to post there and here and now, like you said the people are rude and confrontational and negative. I don't like it, I don't like it at all.

I usually only read/post on weekdays too. I am done with the computer when the weekend comes as I spend all day every weekday on it so I hear ya there.

I'd have had a hard time posting even if I had seen the thread. I was on the road the past couple of days, and wi-fi hotspots aren't as common (or available easily) as one might wish. Iowa has them available at the rest stops, hardly any other state does. I wasn't in Iowa on this trip.

About the subject: I expect that out of non-believers. They parrot the stuff their professors teach them about the contradictions in scripture and just assume what they're taught is true, and besides as we know you sometimes can't get it by the flesh alone, the Spirit has to illuminate it for you. The Spirit doesn't waste much time trying to illuminate for people who already have their minds made up that the Bible is a book of fables anyway.

About the static down in the main section: I had noticed some, but not bad. For real vitriol, you have to go to the Married section. They're experts over there, everybody else is amateurs at vitriol-throwing.

I expect non believers to question the bible and our beliefs for sure. What I don't expect and am shocked that it is allowed is to be "perceived" as being a christian when you are not. I don't mind the ones on here that are respectful and just say I don't really believe that but they don't talk about our bible like it's some sort of fable even if that may be what they believe. I can deal with those types. What I dislike is the wolves in sheeps clothing around here lately, and the tone of the Singles forum itself. Haven't been to the married threads as I am a widow now, so no need. I also find that the "older" crowd in the age group catagories are more into threads that are games than any topic of substance. Unfortunately this forum (Mature Singles) isn't as active as I would like, but even when I try to get more action it is to no avail ~sigh~

There are all kinds out there. There are different ways to view history. Different ways to view scripture. Different ways to view how God works among people or doesn't. That's all within the Christian camp. This forum/web site has the widest group of Christians expression or the largest variety of Christians inter-reacting with each other of any web site I'm guessing. We have eastern orthodox, fundies, main line churches and catholic, faith groups and pentecostal. Then as pointed out the young and old. We all come for the same reason and for different reasons. For the most part I think we play together very well. But the site has a lot of mods helping to keep things civil. That to me is a miracle. This site could be the biggest in all the world of all Christians express themselves and being accepted by other Christians from other Christian backgrounds. We are a part of that. I also think the mature singles sub-forum is as good at that as any sub - forum on this site. IE we are the best of the best!

because this forum isn't moderated that well, I think theology and edification are the only "christian only" subsections. But anyone can click the cross icon and go posting. There's still alot of other forums that anyone can post in. I've too often seen a christian make a thread with some type of problem like in a relationship and there's been non-christians giving non-christian advice. And it's not moderated.

I wouldn't recommend this forum to any new christian, hence my rare and infrequent posting here. There's alot of incorrect and downright wrong non-christian "advice" that is permitted.

I just bailed on the married section (I'm divorced) because of pretty much that kind of thing. It became apparent that's no place for me to be hanging out in. Those folk really don't like each other much. Some of the advice leaves much to be desired from a biblical standpoint too.

About the old folk playing a lot of games: I don't know quite how to break this to you but--- that's what a lot of us oldsters do. I mention that because I saw it mentioned here somewhere.

I've surfed thru the married section some. Generally didn't have must to day there as the topics were of no interest to me. So I guess I missed all the flack happening there. Did read last night the threads about should it be closed down or new guild lines put in place.

BBM THIS made me LOL. I just don't. Not a gamester I guess. I want to discuss topics that interest me or that I feel I need to grow in, but I guess most don't they just want to play games. I guess if I had my life all figured out and was bored.....no....I still don't think I would become a gamester.

I don't get into the word games myself. There's really only a couple of threads in GE50 that I do get into. However, if you've got something on your mind and want to start a thread about it I imagine you'd get some good feedback.

One crucial don't: Don't go into GE50 charging that they play too many games and don't have enough serious threads. That's been tried and it came to a bad end. Justifiably so, in my opinion. Just start your thread on the serious subject you want to discuss and things will go much easier.
