I guess you took the wording at face value while I knew that only one set of 'demagogues' was in mind--which interpretation was borne out by the subsequent posts, if you notice.

A minority of Episcopalians like Bishop Spong have regrettably used African religion as a whipping boy, it is true. But I don't think that represents some kind of formal policy of the Episcopal Church. Some kind of theological exchange between Africa and North America is appropriate, it is what it means to fulfill the ancient litany of the prayer for "the unity of all" (still used in the Episcopal Church, as of 1979's Rite II). Disagreements, even disorder, is to be expected in a fallen world. The Church is incarnational by its nature and must become relevant to different cultures with different needs. Reconciling those differences is ultimately God's work, but it must be carried out by our hands.

I understand that Anglicans believe they have Apostolic Succession in general. However, the Old Catholic lines are what are considered valid by the Catholic Church, and these are certainly not "many."

Quite true. They exclude all of the other Apostolic lines except a highly-reconfigured Petrine line which is open to much serious debate.

Whatever.

I was merely saying that most Episcopal bishops these day have lines of succession from the Old Catholic churches (and from the Eastern Orthodox churches, for that matter) as well as from the Church of England.

Most Anglicans here are "high church" in nature, and don't really have any issue with them, as they are liturgical and generally quite Anglo-Catholic.
There is progressive liberalism in all churches imo, whether that is good or bad is open to interpretation.

@Monk Brendan is there a "Liberal" problem in the OCA? I've read there was more than a few times over the last year. Congregants tend to be extremely liberal. Will this affect the clergy of the OCA?

I have much more in common with conservative Anglicans, such as Albion, than I do with 90% of Christendom. In other words, I like Anglicans.

Ok, well since I'm in the OCA, I would say "no" we are not liberal. Are there some liberals/progressives, whatever label you want to use? I've heard of a few, but as far as I know they are few and far between. Being in the Diocese of the South, I can say for sure that we are very traditionally Orthodox.
