What is your hobby??? What do you do in free time??
i love to read... unless my children aren't sleeping you will probably find me in my study or my library. i love to dance... i am trying to teach my husband but i see him maybe a month out of the year (he is in the military and in law school)... sometimes i get to dance with my father at family parties and formal occassions... and for myself in the mirror
singing is really important to me... i was a voice minor in a cross study between columbia university (my school) and juilliard. i sing in a choir for my parish and in a baptist choir where i help with their music program development... they have some incredible talent among them, especially a 14 year old who i am trying to encourage to apply to the juilliard school. their choir director did not know very much about music and so there are a lot of bad habits that it is frustrating to make them unlearn...
my husbands church (he is presbyterian) wants me to sing in their choir too... i think that might be too much.
...what else...
i jog! everywhere and all the time! just me, my running shoes and my iPod... we live on an island most of the year and our property private and expansive so i get a lot of time to myself.
i have some shared hobbies with my husband... he loves to sail and so now i do too, he is a pilot and when he is here we fly in his airplane and he tries to frighten me, but it is exhilerating! we have tennis courts and i get to play tennis with him when he is here... but i have been playing with my mother a lot more (she lives on the same island as us) and with his mother, who lives in nearby Charleston.
i love going to movies and lectures, exhibits, discussions, symposiums, debates, museums, university classes or any other dorky pursuit. i love school and if i were not married with children would probably have pursued more of it. i hope to go to medical school when my children have grown up! i just want to take care of them and my husband right now, that's where i belong.
my kids aren't a hobby, they are a job... but i take great delight in teaching them new things and arranging lessons and activities to do with them, they are both infants (1 year old twins). i read the bible and things about animals and national geographic to them and try to teach them new words... we go to museums and out shopping for bread, meat and other food in town a lot. they love to hug loaves of bread when we go to the baker he makes them for them.
i think my life is one big hobby! i'm very easy going and i enjoy small nuances more than big productions... i'm lonely a lot... since i never see my husband and i feel somewhat alienated by his lifestyle. that's why i spend time here when my kids are sleeping... there are people to talk to... and i don't feel like rapunzel, stuck up in some big tower with nobody to talk to
que Dios te bendiga
