Even though it's a little before my time. I think my favorite song would have to be, American Pie by Don Mclean. I never get tired of hearing it.

Don McLean - American Pie

A long long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while.

But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died

So
{Refrain}
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die

Did you write the Book of Love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so
Do you believe in rock 'n roll
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow

Well, I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died

I started singin'
{Refrain}

Now for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone
But that's not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the King and Queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me

Oh, and while the King was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lennon [Lenin?] read a book of Marx
The quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died

We were singing
{Refrain}

Helter Skelter in a summer swelter
The Byrds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul out on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast

Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While the Sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died

We started singing
{Refrain}

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation Lost in Space
With no time left to start again
So come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
'Cause fire is the Devil's only friend

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in hell
Could break that Satan's spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrifical rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died

He was singing
{Refrain}

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music woudn't play

And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

And they were singing
{Refrain}

They were singing bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die

Man, I just cannot narrow it down to only one song...

* (Pride) In the Name of Love - U2
* Knights In White Satin - The Moody Blues
* The End of the Innocence - Don Henley
* Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot
* Miss You In a Heartbeat - Def Leppard
* Take This Oath - Killswitch Engage

I'm sure there are more, but these are songs that I definitely couldn't live without, ya know?

Ok, like foo, I can't pick just one.

Right now here's my top five of the moment.

1. Ghost Love Score - Nightwish
2. As I Am - Dream Theater
3. Between the Wheels - Rush
4. Memento Mori - Kamelot
5. Nemo - Nightwish

Mine changes quite a bit as well, but it's probably "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls.

And even though the moment passed me by,
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Get tossed along the way
Letters that you never meant to send
Get lost and thrown away

Now we're grown-up orphans
That never knew their names
We don't belong to no one,
That's a shame
But you could hide beside me,
Maybe for awhile,
And I won't tell no one your name,
And I won't tell 'em your name

Scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there?
Did you get to be a star?
Don't it make you sad to know that life is more than who we are?

You grew up way too fast
Now there's nothing to believe
When reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name,
And I won't tell 'em your name
And I won't tell 'em your name
And I won't tell 'em your name

(Musical Break)

I think about you all the time
But I don't need the same
If it's lonely where you are,
Come back down
And I won't tell 'em your name

hmmm i'm not sure, perhaps March of the black Queen by Queen or Lucky by Radiohead
:D
I am a massive Queen fan and that track just blows my mind , it is just sooooooooo full of vocals it makes me laugh ...... no way could you fit another vocal into that complex and massive project !!!

Do you mean it do you mean it do you mean it
Why don't you mean it why do I follow you
And where do you go?
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
You've never seen nothing like it
No never in your life
Like going up to heaven
And then coming back alive
Let me tell you all about it
If the world will so allow it
Oooh give me a little time to choose
Water babies singing in a lily pool delight
Blue powder monkeys praying in the dead of night
Here comes the Black Queen poking in the pile
Fi fo the Black Queen marching single file
Take this take that bring them down to size
March to the Black Queen

Put them in the cellar with the naughty boys
Little ****** sugar then a rub-a-dub-a-baby oil
Black on black on every finger nail and toe
We've only begun - begun
Make this make that keep making all that noise
Ooh march to the Black Queen
Now I've got a belly full
You can be my sugar baby
You can be my honey chile, yes

A voice from behind me reminds me
Spread out your wings you are an angel
Remember to deliver with the speed of light
A little bit of love and joy
Everything you do bears a will
And a why and a wherefore
A little bit of love and joy
In each and every soul lies a man
And very soon he'll deceive and discover
But even to the end of his life
He'll bring a little love

Ah ah ah ah ah
I reign with my left hand I rule with my right
I'm lord of all darkness I'm queen of the night
I've got the power
Now do the march of the Black Queen
My life is in your hands I'll fo and I'll fie
I'll be what you make me I'll do what you like
I'll be a bad boy I'll be your bad boy
I'll do the march of the Black Queen
Ah ah ah ah ah

Walking true to style she's vulgar vuse and vile
The Black Queen tattoos all her pies
She boils and she bakes
And she never dots her I's
La la la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la

etc ............. :p :D

A few that come to mind:
  • Tarot Woman, Stargazer, A Light in the Black, Gates of Babylon, Rainbow Eyes - Rainbow
  • Heaven and Hell, Lonely is the Word - Black Sabbath
  • A Horse with No Name, Ventura Highway, Tin Man - America
  • Holland, 1945 - Neutral Milk Hotel
But one that stands out:
  • In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Iron Butterfly
