Whats Wrong with the Church?

It seems to Me that the Church is not fuctioning as God originaly intended.
all you have to do to realise this is to take a look around at the world and compare it to the Church.
theres not a lot of difference between the two!

I mean the christian church as a whole is supposed to reflect the God it represents.
It doesn't.
If it was functioning properly the world would be a much better place!
I think the Hell doctrine has a lot to do with it.
a lot of christians a so busy judging people and burning Harry Potter books that they are distracted from doing what their supposed to be doing.

What kind of God does the church represent? If it represents a God whose idea of "holiness" it is to render infinite penalties upon non-believing sinners, then what good can you expect from such a church as this?

Very true, The hell doctorine drove me away long ago. I think it is the single largest reason that thinking people stay in disbelief. I know many non christians and most of them do believe that there is a higher power out there, Many believe Jesus existed and respect his teachings but have little respect for the church and it's teachings.

The fact that the last one isn't fine, is an indication that the first two aren't either, or they would be sorting out the latter because, like it or not, the latter is our face to the world.

Of course it's easier to say "oh, we are fine really, it's just some organisation that's nothing to do with us that's screwed up", because then one doesn't have to get off one's backside and do anything about it.
