Seems like winter is with us! Fairly cold here too. I think I prefer "cold and frosty" to "wet and windy", but it does push up the heating costs.

I hope the fire was put out okay Dave.

Well, I expect it was Sis' [well out of sight from here]
I saw just the billowing clouds of black smoke
occasionally lit by red flashes
I heard several explosions too
The appliances were there for twenty minutes or so

As for the weather... no-worries... it will pass ;)

I remember going to school as a child
when, you had to travel by memory and listen for cars and buses
when you couldn't see your hand in front your face

Beats me how traffic still travels [?]

I accompanied Mary to a granddaughter's 8th birthday party earlier

Well with -2.C before bed I awoke to a frosty white carpet outside

In the hour before I got up, during which my Mary brought me a mug of coffee
I watched [sitting up in bed] as snow fell lazily down
and I could tell that this little sprinkling is the precursor to MORE

Quanity-wise, it barely covered anything, save for the wheelie-bin lids
and the roofs of cars parked outside
and corners of rooftops where the wind had aided it's thicker landing

The skies are full of white and grey
and somewhere up there behind it all is a midday sun ...
quite 'where' is difficult to determine
It is a crisp 0.C at this time

I hope you are all warm and happy and that the season brings you much cheer
