I shouldn'a dun it. Oh well, I did it.
I took a run from Chicago's OHare airport to Waterloo, Iowa Thursday evening. I knew a storm was brewing which is why I shouldn't have done it. Ran into the first snow at the De Kalb Oasis, heavy snow from there to just past the Iowa line. Iowa doesn't seem to believe in salt, so the roads there are treacherous. I-380 had a towing service ban, so if you went into the ditch you were stuck. Waterloo had six inches on the ground, many roads not yet plowed when I got there. Made it, and made it back OK, but that trip was exhausting in more ways that one.
Right now, clear and 22 degrees F, going to a high of 30. Should be clear the next couple of days-- yes, I'm watching it like a hawk, another long trip today to Tennessee, I won't get back until late tomorrow night. But, the weather looks clear for this trip anyway.
