What's the weather like where you are? (8)

Today and tomorrow are a bit cooler than it has been being. We hit 88F today, tomorrow is supposed to be low 80s F. Clear skies today and tomorrow.

We had blistering heat here, highs in the mid 90s with heat index readings in the low 100s. The "grey lady*" handled the heat well enough even on the long trips, seems the lower thermostat for engine cooling was the right idea.

*Grey lady: Yep, my van is so old I name it. A '98 Chevy cargo van, presently with 372,000 miles on the odometer. Still going strong.

Current temp is 59 degrees, cool and overcast just south of Seattle, WA. Nice!

Sunny, breezy, and a bit more humid, but still comfortable with temps @ 80
Showers later today and overnight (much needed!) with a low of 65.

We had a thunderstorm this morning,
it took more than an hour to approach then track over the top of us
and to disappear out of hearing range
While it was nearby, we were treated to torrential rain
which, has now reduced to spits~into the many puddles, it left behind

Forecasters [last night] gave warnings of flooding to many areas
~as the ground is so dry,
surface water would accumulate quickly and, have no way of soaking-in quickly enough

We have yet to hear/see weather reports, of areas that had problems with that

Right now, 70F under clear skies. Forecast calls for partly cloudy, it might get to 80F, lower humidity. A cold front passed through last night so we're looking at cooler temps with less humidity for the next few days.

I have never had the occasion to capture lightening.

Hoping for rain, garden is so very dry. Cooler than yesterday only 80's.

It needs a 'very quick' shutter and low exposure setting
and maybe more-than a 'little' precognition

I will have-to stay inside with the camera ~my having removed the rear porch
so that carpenters can install the new 'composite' back door [in a couple of weeks time]
They have multipoint locking systems /anti 'jemmy' fittings, armoured glass

Apparently the police do not like them,
as they are so very difficult to bypass with their ram equipment


So, I will have-to STAY inside the rear hallway 'safe' and dry

Back in the day, I had the equipment...but no more.
Also, the storms here on the lake are bad enough to ring the wall phone some days
I'm happy to leave those images to the crazy 'storm chasers' (not saying you are)

We could use some wet weather up here in Seattle. Its been a mite dry here on the western side of the Cascades. Meanwhile, sharpen a few sticks and cook some weenies in Eastern Washington with all the fires that's been reported.

The thunderstorms never reached us here Dave. I was expecting them so didn't water the plants last night - but not a drop of rain today. Could do with it really.
