cloudy, 48 F (8 C) dropping to 42 F tonight with rain.

yesterday was warm, and the tree peepers (frogs) were out singing.

i visited my soon-to-be new garden today!
Spring is in evidence there. the leaves of the hyacinths are up (no flowers yet) the rosettes of the sedum are in evidence,
and the horse mint is starting to bloom.

( i'm told that a raised bed out back contains onions! no sight of them yet, but i was promised that the bed is chock full of them.)

also saw some mocking birds, robins, and vultures, so there are birds nearby.
i'll be putting out feeders and the bird bath for their enjoyment when i move in.

and there's a nice old stump where i can spread sunflower seeds for the cardinals.
I used to do that years ago during the hard Winter for our cardinals.
word spread quickly among the birds, and before i knew it I had a whole flock of cardinals flying in twice a day for their feed.
I never saw so many cardinals in one place before, but we often hosted 40 or more of them at a time.

Take Care
thanks very much!
as it turned out we did have a tornado warning in our area. so i grabed the cat and made for an interior room.
got inside just as the winds started to pick up and the lightening and thunder started to roar.
we stayed safely inside the room for about half an hour.

After we came out i learned that the tornado had passed within 30 miles of us,
and left 3 people dead in it's wake. the tornado came so fast that they had no chance to leave their mobile home before it was hit.
the tornado picked up the mobile home, threw it across a 2 lane highway, into a field, and totally destroyed it.
the bodies of the deceased people were found thrown outside the home.

Those poor people pdudgeon! It's so sad. I'm glad you managed to keep safe though.

We have had some lovely weather recently: mainly dry with just a slight breeze and some sun. It's still cold, but not freezing, and I find it more comfortable than the previous windy/wet weather. Ideal for winter walking.

Sue Sis' .... your report seems like you are talking about another-country
and we are, only a very few miles apart
Rain, is seemingly never far-away from us, here

It's strange isn't it? I wondered how you'd reply to my post. Previously we have had a great deal of rain, like you, but over the last 5 or 6 days it has been dry and still. I hope your garden isn't still as muddy as you said it was.

wet yesterday, last night and this morning ...
it has paused now, for several hours already

Oh for some dry and warm weather

Sue Sis', the lawn is a quagmire
looks good on top, but you step on mud
and, you'll find an inch of SQUIDGE under your foot

Oh yuk, Dave! - your lawn. We're all patios and pot plants here so don't have that problem, but I sympathise. No doubt a good gardener like you will be able to deal with it when the weather gets better......however: sorry bro', but I think the forecast for the NW is rain on Wed!

Here: snow! but it only remains on the cars and the rest is dripping away.

Like the sound of your daffs coming out pdudgeon!

curent high temp is 52 f (11 C) with gusty winds--typical for March.
the breezes put shallow wavelets on the bird bath, and kick up the fallen oak leaves
for the viewing pleasure of the cat. it is good kite-flying weather for the children, however.
I used to love doing that when i was a kid.
had to watch out for the neighbor's trees, however. they were kite-eating monsters!

more daffs gradually comming out now. they add a bright spot to a drab landscape.

looking forward to seeing the forsythia in bloom later this month.
where i used to live long ago the neighbors had a huge wild hedge of them across the back property line of their place. Fabulous!
i love seeing them in free form like that.
