Oh I hadn't realized. I heard the man died.Hindley died in 2002. An appalling person...
The fires were probably started by cigarettes or glass bottles thrown on the ground. There is so much litter these days in the UK
Yes, often nature itself in the form of rain holds the key...They will probably keep going until the rain comes...but hopefully they will be kept under control.
We have moorland fires nearby that are causing concern. A local Church is on standby to evacuate...
thank you so much for your prayers, the moorlands are basically peat, brush, scrub and are very dry...Having had forest-fires all around us last summer for 6 months; and the smoke and fear they bring; I understand what you are going thru. Praying for you are your area PM. What are moorlands; like shrub brush and swamp mixed?
thank you so much for your prayers, the moorlands are basically peat, brush, scrub and are very dry...
the army have been called in to help, beating out the flames, with being peat, the fire spreads underground and pops up...

"Soldiers have started arriving in Greater Manchester to help tackle the huge moorland fire that could last "for weeks".
About 100 troops from the 4th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland, were sent from their barracks in Catterick, North Yorkshire, overnight.
A Chinook helicopter will fly out of RAF Odiham, Hampshire, later to move water-pumping equipment by air.
They had one helicopter yesterday with a water carrier and I think the army are bringing one today. The UK is always 20 years behind America...ha ha...they will get there...they have hose pipes etc...They beat the fire out? That sounds so...archaic; here they would have helicopters and giant water-carrying tanker planes to hit the fires with.
I've never known a fire like this before in the UK. I don't think we've had one, have we mp?thank you so much for your prayers, the moorlands are basically peat, brush, scrub and are very dry...

The heatwave continues and apparently will do so into the early part of next week.
Oh no! Another one! I'm praying for rain too....and now we have a fire on Winterhill, and another one ...
"
A major incident has been declared after two large-scale moorland fires merged.
Greater Manchester Police said fires on Winter Hill and Scout Road near Bolton have merged, with pedestrians and motorists urged to stay away from the scene".
I am praying for rain...
