  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's the weather like where you are? (10)

Hey all, sorry for the lapse in checking in.
I see prayers are needed for rain in the UK, you can sure have most of ours here in northern Minnesota. There are parts of my yard I haven't been able to mow all year and the swamp grass is waste high, with a good 4 inches of standing water in it.
I have two 250 gallon rain barrels that I collect rainwater in for gardening, but haven't used a drop all season so far, they are still full from spring.
The weather has been pleasant except for a few muggy days, highs in the upper 70s to low 80sF.
Praying everyone is well and God bless you all.

It's after midnight again here, so my post is about the weather today. The forecast high is for 97F, sunny, and no rain. We could use some rain, but we're not desperate for it. It sounds like Minnesota needs some dry weather and time to let all of that rain sink in.

Usually we are trying to give ours away! :D This drought is very unusual for the UK. It has been strange to see the weather forecast maps of the western part of the Northern Hemisphere with so little cloud!

Thank you everyone for your prayers. It rained where I am on Friday - twice! I'm so pleased but someone on TV said that we need about 3 weeks' continuous rain to make up for the loss.

Today sunny, some cloud and a little breeze.

Praying you get some relief RBF.

Here in the PNW we had 93F(34c) today with the humidity at 20%; but as this
is our first week of hot weather; both seem a lot higher.

The whole US west coast is getting the heat wave that the rest of the US has had for the last week or so.

In fact the whole middle section of the world is in a heat wave right now; as this world temp map shows; from the Weather underground.

If you have high temps right now; you probably still can find somewhere that is hotter; unless you live in Dubai; they set a record of 125F(52c) this year!

Above: A sampling of all-time high temperatures reported around the world in 2018 thus far, rounded to the nearest degree Fahrenheit. Most of these were set in late June and early July (see details below). The reading of 51.3°C (124.3°F) at Ouargla, Algeria, is the highest reliably measured temperature on record for Africa. Yesterday when I left Miami FL area in the morning it was already 100 degrees with impending thunderstorms. I am in Disney campground now and it's been in very low 90s but with a strange breeze... quite acceptable at night with upper 70s. No rain today, even though t storms forecast. :D

Our high today was 100F, and it will be 108 for tomorrow. It's getting hot. We also had an earthquake about 2 hours ago - 3.1 magnitude epicenter about 2 miles from us. Earthquake insurance is expensive and has huge deductibles, so we don't have any coverage for earthquakes. I don't think that we have any damage, so God was taking care of us again.

We turned on the house fan a couple times this past week to circulate air, but haven't had to use the air conditioner for 12 months or so... It might be about that time again. Some July rain would be a blessing.

I'm assuming that you live in one of those places that has mild weather year around like California. My son lived in San Diego for a couple of years, and the temperature was almost always close to 70. That's great for the electric bill. Summer in Oklahoma where I live is in triple digits many days, so we love our air conditioner.

I remember the days when all we had was a water cooler in the living room window and it about the size of a washing machine. It beat triple digit heat though...

We had one of those while I was growing up and during my first few years of marriage. I'll just say that we were glad to get that first refrigerated air conditioner.

It seems to be so! (Greenland is looking inviting right now! lol! :D) Actually I feel humbled by you guys in the USA. The highest UK temp was about 34C (low 90s F) - that's hot for us! I'm actually enjoying the summer, largely because this house is cool and I don't stay in the sun long. The evenings are lovely. The water shortage is becoming a concern though, especially for farmers and those whose businesses are affected by the drought. Thank you for your prayers for rain everyone. We've had some showers in the NW. :)

It's 93F and cloudy today in Central Oklahoma. We had a cold front come in.
Tom, I'm praying that you get a bit of reprieve from the high temperatures, and enjoying your sense of humor. Have a blessed day in the shade.
