  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's the lowest price for DSL/cable ISP?

I am really, really annoyed at CompuServe right now (getting repeatedly disconnected, slow connection when I reconnect. . .>_<)

We pay around $29.95 a month I think (I don't deal with the bills for my family, my sister does)

it may sound strange but broadband connections are much expensive here than in England. for example dsl can be 29.99 a month for six months then after that its like 40. Same thing with cable which is around 35-45 dollars a month. ;) i actually noticed that in england its quite cheap to have a broadband connection than here in the US.

I think I pay a total of $50 or so, in my market.

My ISP is $15/month for limited (but not very) dialup, and $20/month for unlimited; CompuServe is ripping you off. We have sorta high prices, but we have extra features like spam filtering. What's their excuse?

I don't know what their excuse is, but we got one year free (when we got my sister's PC) and we have all of our e-mails there. If we switch services, we lose our entire filing cabinets, address books, etc. . .and she and my mother lose their favorites lists (they don't like Internet Explorer and only like that next-to-worthless AOL browser CS provides-so all their favorites lists are in there while 99 percent of my favorite site list is in IE because I prefer it)

I was paying $29.99 for AOL/Compuserve, but I just switched to cable internet which will cost me about $10-$15 for the first 3 months then $44.99 a month. This will work out much better for me since I do my work for my job on the internet. :) It's really $39.99 a month but to rent the box thing is like $5.00 a month. Once it's up and running I may purchase my own box thing and just pay the &39.99. But I did have to make a copy of all of my favorates and stuff from my filing cabinets and everything before I switch, and I'll have to change the email address in the forums I visit, and give all of my friends my new email address. LOL! It's almost like moving to a new house! LOL!! :D But I know I will love Cable internet, and I love IE browser, thank God I had half of my favorates in there also. :)

Compuserve always did give me problems just like the ones you're describing. I had that rebate contract thing too, but now my contract is up and I am free to switch to Cable internet now. :) AOL worked better than Compuserve, but Cable is even better than AOL.

I have DSL with SWBell. I pay $39.95/mo, which is about what cable is here. I pay for 384 down, 128 up and get about 1000 down and 107 up. I'm as happy as a hound dog with no fleas.

ROFL!!! :D
