• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

What's the advantage of doing it first?

I didn't say that you did. I was just adding my two cents. *shrugs*

Sorry if I came across as snippy. I guess I'm just a little touchy because every time I've discussed divorce and how it should maybe be a LITTLE more difficult in most cases, the minority situation of abuse comes up as a reason we can't or shouldn't even be a little more active in discouraging divorce, let alone doing anything to make it a little more difficult.

'Sok - I get the same way about comments that generalize that all divorcees are money-grubbing and lazy and just trying to leach off their ex-husbands. ;)

I dunno man...

You know - for all of the talk that I hear about frivolous divorces - I've never come across one in personal experience. I've never met anyone that said "You know, I just have had enough of how they put the toilet paper on wrong...and I just can't take it any more!"

MOST divorces that I know of were pretty dire - and included some form of abuse or another or infidelity. To be honest - I can't think of one that I have personal knowledge of that didn't.

Agreed. I only know of one and eveyone who knows this couple is calling the wife and telling her what a huge mistake she is making.
