  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's funny how our views on digital art change over time. I remember that after I made this drawing in 2009, I thought it was one of my best drawings ever. Of course I don't think that anymore.


It's funny how my previous shading and lighting style looked so good to me when I was using it, but now that I use a better one it looks so flat. Old vs. new:


And it's also funny that I've been using the same digital art program for nine years yet I'm still learning how to use features I didn't even know about!

Once I finish drawing all the Charaboms, I might go back and edit the older ones to fix any mistakes and so their art styles match the newer ones.

I looked up the Hebrew word for "cocoon" and this came up:

The word golem occurs once in the Bible in Psalm 139:16,[3] which uses the word גלמי (golmi; my golem),[4] that means "my light form", "raw" material,[5] connoting the unfinished human being before God's eyes.[4] The Mishnah uses the term for an uncultivated person: "Seven characteristics are in an uncultivated person, and seven in a learned one", (שבעה דברים בגולם) (Pirkei Avot 5:7 in the Hebrew text; English translations vary).

In Modern Hebrew, golem is used to mean "dumb" or "helpless". Similarly, it is often used today as a metaphor for a mindless lunk or entity who serves a man under controlled conditions, but is hostile to him under others conditions.[2] "Golem" passed into Yiddish as goylem to mean someone who is lethargic or beneath a stupor.[6]

I'm not ambivalent towards bacon. I love the stuff.

The way it sizzles in the pan.
The way it smells.

The way it looks when finished cooking, as it changes color almost like a notification that time has finally come to enjoy the fruit of your labor. It beckons you....."eat me" it says. And I partake gladly.

The way it explodes with favor with every bite. Savor the moment.

The difference between belonging and fitting in. I can usually fit in adequately, however draining that might be at times, but finding circumstances where I truly feel like I belong is more of a challenge.

On a related note, when it comes to relationships I'm a chooser. Not a beggar. My kind of woman is the same in this regard. If we don't belong together, but rather just "fit in" with each other's lives, I'm not interested. Eventually, you're going to show your true selves, and that should be a positive rather than something to be feared.
