I was paging thru some Spanish books at the library & was reading them fairly well. But I understand so little when people speak Spanish, just words & phrases. Maybe I need to watch cartoons geared to young-Spanish speakers & trying growing it that way

The conference was incredible! We focused on anointing and what it means for ministry. I was very encouraged with the feedback and camaraderie. Here’s a takeaway for others.

To be anointed is to be set aside and chosen for a specific assignment. You’ve been smeared with God’s supernatural ability to do natural things. You’re able to do natural things in supernatural ways to impact others and make God’s nature manifest.

When we’re smeared with anointing we’re protected and preserved to fulfill the call of God on our lives. The anointing preserves life and He grants our provision.

It goes beyond the church and commonly cited spiritual gifts. Our anointing manifests itself in many ways.

What can you do without thinking? It comes easy for you.
What compels people to seek your input or assistance?
What’s your area of expertise? Think outside the box.

We often take these things for granted and assume they’re meaningless and look to spiritual qualities in their place. But God isn’t limited to one feature. He’s designed us to affect others in many ways.

Don’t sell yourself short.

We had a prayer session this evening. It was powerful! The Lord moved and dropped manna in our spirits. I received my word in both and He confirmed some things that were on my heart and answered a prayer in the process.

I mentioned wanting to study with someone the other day. He came through. I asked for one and He provided a group of spirit-filled women who are determined to use their gifts and talents for His glory. I got more than I expected.

We were reminded of the necessity of bringing all of ourselves into our ministry and to walk intentionally in our anointing.

I'm excited. This is a big step forward. Being flanked with prayers warriors and godly people committed to fulfilling His purpose is second to none. This is another manifestation of Him building my network. I know the person hosting it. There's no coincidences. God is good.

I'm (barely) watching this unnecessarily darkly-shot, teen supernatural horror film on Netflix right now called Polaroid (the somewhat overly used plot about an evil camera that predicts an unfortunate future for those it takes a picture of). I really like how out of touch it was with high school social dynamics, having the perfectly cute main character Bird made fun of by classmates off-screen when she's getting her photo taken for the yearbook or something, for her wearing a fashionable scarf indoors, like she's the weirdest person in the world whom nobody would want to be around just because of the scarf. "Scarf Girl!" They call out like it's the nastiest insult possible, like the way you'd laugh at and make up names for the kid who ate bugs on the playground during elementary school days. =/

Come on, movie. Give us a real reason to believe that she's the socially awkward outcast whose wild story about the evil camera she can't get rid of that destroys every life it catches with a lens flare, won't be believed by anyone, even her own few friends, until she saves the potential victims who remain at the end of the third act and finally gains the respect she should have had by her school peers all along. Simply wearing a scarf isn't going to cut it. it's not like Bird is even a Goth or anything.

That's a blast from the past; I think I last saw her in 2009 when she played one of Fitch twins in Skins.

She hasn't changed at all. Her twin sister Megan though, looks unrecognisable.

Another spirit-filled day of ministry and sharing. Today we focused on calling and how to discern our purpose. I came away with the certainty that I was planted and my experiences are a testament of my calling and the people I was fashioned to serve. Here's some takeaways.

What's a calling? Calling is an unmistakable command from God to take up a task, job, or assignment for a specific reason. Our assignment has a designated recipient. It's never general. 2 Peter 1:10; Romans 11:29

Your purpose is embedded in your DNA. God considers the purpose and then He designs us. 1 Corinthians 1:26

We're anointed for a calling. It isn't exclusive of your calling. There's no anointing absent of calling. You can't have one without the other.

Ask yourself, what is God calling me to do and who am I meant to serve? Look at the traits of the person God is calling you to influence. Because influence comes from the inside out. Not the outside in. Embed yourself in the culture.

For instance, if you have a passion for gaming and you were part of that scene growing up and had gaming friends. Your ability to affect them is significantly greater than someone who's clueless. Because you know them. You understand the culture. You're one of them.

Remember, like attracts like.

I prepped some chops thought of you. They’re going on the grill tomorrow.

They’re from my pork order. I used this rub and added a little maple sugar I picked up at the farmer’s market for a hint of sweetness on the finish.

I’m taking a shortcut but I make my own sauce and rub for ribs. It’s a modified version of Melissa Cookston’s (from the cookbook). I watched the Kingston Championship when she won on whole hog. That hooked me.
