... Still, a lady warrior in the martial arts can also do her thing classily (is that actually a real word? ^-^ ) as well when beating up hordes of ruffian opponents.

Tis' the actual spilling of blood and the spirit of sadism that this knight finds distasteful. But the beautiful ebb and flow of the warrior maiden's strike as she dances her graceful but formidable dance of bare-handed, non-lethal combat, I tend to quite admire. ^_-

I was willingly volunteering, though. Let me know the next time you need a bodyguard when making your way through a rough neighborhood. I'll at least be a more effective guardian for you than Patrick Warburton was for Parker Posey in Scream 3. (That guy died from one shallow stab in the back from the killer in that film. Come on, man! You're a professional bodyguard! Level it up a bit! )

I always like to think that I'd be "brave" and pursue the darkness and danger before me, but, in real life, I doubt that will ever happen if the situation arises. At least so long as it is only my own well-being on the line, then the best thing to do would be to heed my common sense of self-perservation and turn back, as you seem to say that you also would.

... to be fair to Patrick Warburton's character as the budding actress's bodyguard in that movie, though, he wasn't seeking out trouble or freely going into any kind of foreboding place or situation He just let the killer leap out from behind a closet door and catch him totally by surprise. ... Like I said, guy was being a total newbie at his chosen profession.

Sometimes standing down is the wisest course. I've studied the art of warfare. There are many ways to disarm an opponent. I think Arthur Golden said it best:

I never seek to defeat the man I am fighting, " he explained. "I seek to defeat his confidence. A mind troubled by doubt cannot focus on the course to victory. Two men are equals - true equals - only when they both have equal confidence.

Fisticuffs is easy. Mental subjugation isn't. Those who lead with their hands lack the aptitude to take out their adversary through other means. The body is a commodity. Guard it with care.

I have to stay here by myself. I have 6 out of 7 nights in a row coming up starting Saturday night. There's really no time to go anywhere out of town to see family before that. And besides, they are pretty strict right now at work about where you can go and for how long because of Covid, under possible penalty of being quarantined from work for two weeks (and in my case it would be without pay). They only let me go to see my boy Lantis in El Dorado as I do about once month without restriction because it is only one county away.
But I'm fine with that. Thankfully I don't sense any tendency in myself right now to feel lonely or anything due to having to stay home away from family at this time.

Oy, I hope it isn't too hectic. Your schedule is brutal as the week winds down. But you're a trooper. You always bounce back.

There's really no time to go anywhere out of town to see family before that. And besides, they are pretty strict right now at work about where you can go and for how long because of Covid, under possible penalty of being quarantined from work for two weeks (and in my case it would be without pay). Sometimes though I have an anxiety about me when going to see family that seemed to become a part of me ever since i passed my teen years or so, being in others' homes and mingling in their particular lifestyles for however a short time. I don't know exactly why or what it is but I would presume it to be because (or mostly because) of my very particular sense of cleanliness and sanitation clashing with theirs. There is so much speculation I could go on about with that, exploring my psyche when it comes to that and all, but it'd take forever and I doubt it would be easy to write in an even vaguely understandable way.
So let's just suffice it to say that, for example, it did not help when my sister had her two kids along for the ride last Christmas when I mentioned on here that we were all in Gatlinburg together - my parents, sister, and myself - for a few days, as we used to go there often as a family when I was little. Considering that the two kids are actually quite proud of the fact that they both regularly decline to wash their hands after using the bathroom despite the constant urging of their mother to do otherwise .... and they are at five and seven years old, when maybe only a toddler wouldn't know any better on something like that. And for a guy like me, yeah, I really cringe at being touched even second-hand by someone who would do that, not washing their hands after even the most elementary of occasions where it would be deemed necessary. For that and many other reasons I felt very little peace in that time with my parents and sister except for when the kids were in bed and it was just the four of us up together, laughing and going over old memories and such. I hate to sound like I actually despise my own nephews or something in saying all that, but, yeah, it's difficult to be around them in particular out of all my known family, and I imagine it will stay that way for a few years more until some kind of maturity can finally kick in biologically with them ... and myself, perhaps, mentally.

Of course, I myself fully admit that despite the gentlemanly and humble nature I desire to attain, I just really don't think I am cut out to raise children of my own, anyway. I can't imagine it. I may hold ideals, but in practice on that front I think I would fail greatly, unless the Lord Himself were to personally decide otherwise for me if that be His will somehow and I just do not see it yet. My sister pushes forward in doing all of that, being a parent, and she is to be commended, but she and I always were quite different from the day of my birth. She was the street-smart and practical one, and I the more "book"-smart and idealistic one. ^-^ This is also why I acknowledge that it might always not be the Lord's will for me to actually marry at all, as if nothing else there's probably relatively few ladies out there that would be fine with declining to ever bear children and staying just as a couple, but not raising an entire family. Which I can certainly understand if they decline marriage for that reason with a certain guy.
