  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm an idiot.

I popped into the local supermarket to do some shopping on my way home, and while looking at lightbulbs, a woman who was standing next to me recognised me, although I didn't recognise her. It turns out that we were at the same primary school, and she was the year below me.

I'm a bit surprised she recognised me - she did say that I hadn't changed much, but I definitely didn't have any facial hair at that age, and neither was I thinning on top. But she definitely had the right person as she remembered my sister as well.

We chatted for a while about lightbulbs as neither of us could find what we were looking for, and then she left to finish her shopping...

It took me a while to realise that she may not have been wearing anything on her left ring finger (which isn't a foolproof check, but still...), and so I really shouldn't have let her go without trying to get her number.

I did go around the store looking for her, but by the time I found her she was already queueing at a till, with some people behind her, so getting to her would have been really awkward, and she was long gone by the time I'd paid for my things.



So I guess what I can do is put my cyberstalking skills to the test and see if I can track her down on Facebook. But that was a golden opportunity, and I was too slow on the uptake to do anything about it.

I've been so preoccupied lately with my kids. I'm a slightly above middle aged mother and I have two sons, both of which "play Fortnite". I tried to teach them from a very young age that the Virgin Mary didn't have video games, and it's a sin to play them because Jesus has never played a video game. It's very saddening now to see them do dances such as "Crippling Cops"(?) and "Dabbing". The first time I caught them was when I was in my bathroom and I heard an "Allahu Trapbar" remix coming smack dab from my son's bedroom just downstairs. I was very startled by how gross the musical undertones sounded and I think they are trying to hypnotize my children. I'm debating on having them baptized again on top of them confessing their sins. What should I do????

I'm going to start looking through my two binders filled with drawings and stories I made in school today. There's way too much stuff in them and I need to clear some out. I'll let you know if I find anything interesting.

You cannot force any kind of forgiveness from God or salvation upon your children. They must accept it for themselves. My mother once tried to convince me in my time of doubt that I should be saved because I was baptized as a baby. .... So freaking what? I had no idea what I was doing as a mere infant. She meant well but was wrong. It was my own willing (so to speak; I do not believe in free will to choose and accept God gift as any kind of "work" on my part, of course, and I do believe that ultimately God is in control) response to the Holy Spirit's calling and claiming faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Son of God with a sound mind and of my own accord that mercifully granted me forgiveness of sins and eternal life, not a parent or anyone else having me go through a motion such as baptism or confession to a priest that indicates obedience to the Gospel.

Video games are not sinful just because Jesus and Mary didn't have them. If that was the case, then computers and TVs and any other kind of technology, and even hobbies like drawing and writing would be sinful. You can't judge everything by whether Jesus did it or not.

If they were already baptized once, that is enough. It doesn't matter if they remember it or not-baptism invites you into God's "family" and does not need to be done more than once.

Confessing their sins is always a good idea, though.

Anyway, here's what I found in the pouches of the first binder:

-Some random drawings and the initial drawings of some of my characters, including Legena, one of my favorites of my made-up Pokemon. Legena looked very different at first, but I changed it to its current appearance over time. I can't believe it's going to be 12 years old in November!

-Some stories and one series, which was the first written series I ever made and one of the three that I've finished in my life so far. It was about some OCs and had six stories, as well as one short sequel.

-Some music from 3rd and 4th grade music class.

Also, it appears both the elderly lady Elizabeth I made friends with the first night I actually moved here and the cute blonde-headed girl named Charlie whom I have briefly met twice have moved away. Feels a bit lonely here now.

I knew beforehand that Elizabeth was moving away, so I had said I would come to visit her one more time before the date she said she would be moving. I guess her plans changed a bit since I went to see her two days beforehand but she was already gone.

Went through the first binder, mostly containing stuff from 6th and 7th grade, with some stuff from 4th, 5th, 8th, and 9th grade as well. Got rid of some old drawings I didn't care about much, a story I never finished, and the cover image to a story I never even wrote. Also found some cool stuff, of course!

On to the second binder. It's not as full as the first one. In the pouches I found more drawings, stories, and songs and some interesting art projects. There was a letter where I'd typed about my plans for the future, which I'm not keeping, and my first story in comic form, which I'm keeping. In the first binder I found two...not-so-happy stories about how much I disliked school in 9th grade. I'm only keeping them for the pictures I drew on them, right now.

All right, I have finally finished going through the binders. Now all I have to do is get what I'm keeping back in them. That didn't take as long as I expected. Maybe I can even fit them all in just one binder.

Oh, never mind, she's okay. The killer's POV turned out to be lurking in a totally different place from the room where Margot Kidder was verbally dressing down someone on the phone. I think she is the main character, so maybe she'll survive the movie.

I don't play GTA because I don't like to put myself in the shoes of a protagonist who is clearly a terrible person and to my understanding from what little I have seen there is no choice to be otherwise.

... Of course, when you look at it another way, Mario might not be quite on the up-and-up himself since he crushes hundreds of relatively non-hostile enemies with his sheer body weight every time the princess needs rescuing. Multiple murders in retaliation for a single kidnapping each time? ... The scales of justice seem a bit tipped too far in one direction here. =P
