  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't really care.. like I said I haven't been on skype for over half a year..

I was suspicious that someone was spreading rumors about me a few months back, but I have no way of proving it.

It's nothing special to CF though, just human nature.

Mmmm.. I don't know.. never really click with people on an individual basis and skype was a little too personal to my tastes.. enjoy the broader more distant format of forums.

Discord has decimated some of the other forums I've been active on. Skype can have a similar effect. People go on chat, drama ensues, and communities crumble. Unfortunately, that seems to be the usual outcome. For forums, anyway.

A lot depends on the level of involvement you want to have with strangers on the internet. Discord makes more sense for gaming, and Skype makes more sense for close friends or checking that you're not being catfished, but these things are just tools.

On skype everyone gets in a chatroom then picks a film that's on Netflix and then we all click play at the same time and chat in the chatroom.. voice audio work good too.

Wasn't with a CFer but I watched the whole first season of Stranger Things with an online friend in a long marathon. Quite fun.. don't know why streaming services don't have things like that built in.. even if you join strangers you don't know to watch something. Seems like a feature that'd be really popular.
