  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Not gonna lie, it really, really sucked. They put me to sleep to actually remove it, so I didn't feel them remove it, but afterwards when I woke up the pain was pretty intense. Don't remember how long it lasted, maybe a week roughly? Little less? I don't remember.

You do not want to get dry socket. Look it up and look up how to avoid it. I never had it myself but I know people who have and they said the pain is horrible... so I'd take it seriously when they warn you about it.

Argh! Just read about it... the whole thing is feeling more and more real now

It doesn't help that I watched an operation of the removal on youtube either (facepalm)

I've had it done. You look like a chipmunk for several days afterwards. Soft food is highly recommended.

What did you eat???

A whole lot of soup, nutrition supplements like Boost, apple sauce, etc. The worst part was that less than a week after the teeth came out, my braces went on, and I had to stay away from solid foods for several more days. :(

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed a few yrs ago,The first two it was no problem since
I was put to sleep, but the second two I was just given novacaine and it hurt so bad I was lying on the couch
moaning in pain for nearly a week, plus there was a piece of bone that needed removing so that was even more pain.
Well, they shot numbing stuff into the gum. But it was difficult because the tooth was really deteriorated. Usually it should be a quick yank and it's done, but she had to keep yanking and it broke apart. Wasn't a nightmare situation, but it sucked. I then demanded to be given the gas, which was nice. So, if your tooth is in good shape, it's usually really quick.

Sounds to me like I was one of the luckier ones when it came to wisdom teeth removal, then. I remember only being out of action for three days or so, rather than a week, and the pain only being a serious bother for about the first day. Also waking up in the middle of the first night after the procedure feeling nauseated enough to vomit up blood. But other than that, no problems.

My most challenging final exam of the term is today, and thoughts about it are crawling over my mind. I'm confident that I'm as prepared as possible, but I'm still nervous. It's for a class taught by one of my college's most prominent professors, and I deeply respect her. That's made me feel exponentially more intimidated, because I've never wanted to earn an A more in my life. I hope I can get some sleep soon.

You definitely need to rest, then, Stanfordella, if you are still up even by this time and yet the exam is later on today. Will be praying for ya. ^-^

My experience was basically the same as yours, apart from the vomiting up blood. I had all four of mine removed in one go, so it was a general anaesthetic - I don't know whether that makes a difference, but I suppose it differs from person to person.

The only after effect that I've had is that my jaw will occasionally click out of place if I yawn too widely (although I think it only ever happens if I'm lying down at the time). It usually goes straight back though, but there was one time when it didn't and stayed out of place for a while, which was very uncomfortable and somewhat scary.
