  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyway what's really on my mind: Pokemon Go. It was made highly publicized for a reason, and I was scratching my head the entire time as to why it really was so publicized as it was, the real reasons, and today after reading an article (which I now can no longer find oddly enough) on yahoo it was very apparent to me. Here's it from a different site,

http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity...teens-playing-pokemon-go-outside-home-w429546

More of this is to come I believe, more shootings possibly or instances with guns, so they can say "look, we can't even play pokemon without guns coming out!"

Also, I'm aware it's possibly Satan pulling the strings and not the government, because really, how could the government force or foresee someone shooting a gun at pokemon go players? Unlikely. But I still see the chess match involved here.

And here's a quote/photo to go with ze post.

-starting to legitimately get creeped out and worried over the period posts-

I'll have you know I believe strongly in "conspiracies". I mean, why post if all your going to post is periods? So strange. And what does "closed for the season" even mean... creepy.

I was reading an article on the ark of the covenant yesterday and some of its material really annoyed me. The article stated that the critical opinion of the ark was that it was an unadorned box and that the gold-overlaid box was an exilic and postexilic conception and may indeed have been inspired by Ezekiel's visions. I have problems with this. For one thing, if it's impossible (or nigh) to separate what's original to what was a later gloss or interpolation, the validity of the whole is called into question.

Ezekiel's visions depict a throne-chariot which was a common motif in the ancient near east; I don't believe this demands a late production.
On the other hand, the kipper of Yom Kippur and word for mercy seat do appear to share similarities to a ritual that the Hebrews would appear (superficially, anyway) to have come into contact with during the exile-- I'll grant that.

Then there is the business of the ark narrative being a late production, yea, even a specially-composed piece to 'serve a theological purpose', perhaps to discredit the house of Eli. I'm not literate enough with ANE literature to say for positive, but I don't see a precedent for this kind of fiction; divine-warriors and hero-kings, certainly (Solomon's meeting with the Queen of Sheba is the one that readily comes to mind as potentially fitting the form) and Wisdom literature in which the wise man imparts his wisdom by fitting it into a fictional (or fictionalised) construct-- Job and Ecclesiastes have been identified as such by some. But this is a form I've not seen, though I'd be glad to be proven wrong (I hate being wrong about scholarship!).

It seems like these critical scholars make the text harder than it needs to be, although, I do believe critical methodology has valuable points to offer provided it is harnessed with a respect for the text and intellectual honesty. I do concede the bit about the mercy seat is compelling, and I'd like to pursue that further at some point.

What's on my mind? A $2,500 package the size of a tissue box is missing and apparently it is my responsibility to find it.. oh boy.
Long day begins: now
Oh dear! I hope you find it!

I laughed so hard at work, I almost lost my voice.

True story.

My throat had been scratchy all day, so I guess that has something to do with it too...but yeah. One of my co-workers made me laugh so hard that I almost lost my voice altogether. I've been able to recover some of it back, but now I sound like Mickey Mouse...which made everyone I spoke to during the last half hour of my shift look at me funny. One of my managers just stared at me for a full minute before quickly walking away. Another co-worker said I sounded cute, so that made me feel a little better.

You people and your normal sandwiches..... :|

You're mortal morsels do not please the bull.

I made a "normal" person sandwich and it are make me the sads.

1 slice of wheat bread
dijon mustard
1 layer of jalapenos
1 slice of cheddar
1 slice of pepper jack
2 slices of turkey
1 slice of wheat bread

246 Calories total. 12 carbs (Bread)

Toros normal sandwich.....

I will just go with totals.

3 slices of wheat bread
2 layers of pickles or jalapenos depending on mood
4 slices of cheese
2 layers of potato chips
8 slices of turkey or chicken. (Maybe even a 4/4 or 5/5 split)

Calories and carbs: No wonder I quit smoking and now am overweight..... :|

:sput:

Lucky for me I am not working toward below 10% so I can still eat like a human being, just less of it. :sohappy:
