  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I just played RAVIOLIS for 71 pts. on FB Scrabble. if "ravioli" means "more than one raviolo", and "raviolis" is more than one ravioli, does "raviolis" have to then be more than more than one raviolo?" :mmh:

It's a Monday :) I go to my first worship team practice tonight :) My teaching license paperwork is in the mail, so in the next month or two I will be able to transfer it to my current state... which is a huge load off :) I also found a lead on grad school. This week is starting off well.

I think you said, but what book are you reading?
The Talisman. It is a Stephen King novel, but it's not really a horror one, more of a fantasy adventure. A 12 year old boy has to travel from New Hampshire to California to retrieve a talisman to save his mother and her twinner in a parallel universe while fighting against opposition from his dad's old business partner. Honestly, they could totally bring the reading level down and remove some of the more graphic descriptions and make it a middle grades book.

Sounds interesting! Stephen King is a great writer, and I really enjoy the fact that he has different levels to his writing, from horribly scary, to medium scary, to more a fantasy/sci fi.

On Good Reads. I love that site. :satisfied:
I used to use goodreads all the time.

In one of the writing classes I took they showed off the opening line to his Dark Tower series and I instantly wanted to read it.

So what's everyone up to?

Well, I just returned to my mother's house from a late lunch and found four or five ducks wandering at random in the street and nearby yards. And they give precisely zero ****'s about cars and humans. I worry that I'm going to run over one, one of these days
. ... There's some guy about four houses away who refuses to keep his duck pen shut or something.

Wouldn't that mean you are tending towards more extroversion, then, Miss Ireland? If the introvert batteries are running low, you are losing introvert power, right?^_^

When it comes to certain things, following social norm is totally fine and makes no difference in the long run. But it's annoying and stressful for people who do follow social norm to the minutiae of the detail to expect the same from others. People who follow social norm usually can't wrap their minds around people who do not but rather choose to do their own thing, and unfortunately, they're usually given a hard time about it.

My niece is dealing with this very problem concerning her up and coming wedding in the spring. It's getting so bad she's literally considering just going down to the courthouse and tying the knot there. It'll be a darn shame if she actually does that because deep down inside I know she wants to have an actual wedding. What needs to happen here is this, she needs to finally learn to say "No" to everything she doesn't want that everyone else is insisting/expecting she do and brush off everyone's butt-hurt feelings, which is precisely what I told her. ...Welcome to adulthood, welcome to having in-laws, welcome to this-is-forever married life.

Lol, yeah. The sooner she gets over other peoples butt-hurt, the better off she's going to be.
