You must have gone to an interesting seminary...The joke at mine was that everyone ends up Presbyterian.

I didn't go to a seminary, I went to a Christian university that had a seminary. The Bible department didn't sugar coat anything.

there are a lot of stories of people hearing horrible things in Bible colleges

one priest was on the radio and he said he walked of a class where the Professor said "nothing in the Creed speaks to the modern man, we have to just forget it if we are going to seriously talk about theology"

You must have gone to an interesting seminary...The joke at mine was that everyone ends up Presbyterian.

I have heard of schools like that
that are more traditional and kinda "push" people to Higher Churches
like a Methodist seminary that ends up making Anglican priests

It wasn't so much that, but that some just couldn't reconcile learning some of the information with what they had been taught growing up.

Ours is a very academic approach to scripture.

Welp, no good TV reception here, so I finally gave in and got Direct TV.

I'm not too keen on having to get a 2 year contract... hopefully prices won't be too atrocious after the first year. On the bright side, free NFL Sunday Ticket for 2015, and the install is tomorrow already - so just in time for the Packers' season opener against the Bears.

Well, figured today would be the day I started to catch up on Game of Thrones. Haven't watched the last three seasons. Started this evening.

I'm a bastard [adopted at birth] and I had the pleasure of running into my birth mother not to long ago. She off-handedly mentioned that many adoptees have dual birth certificates, one with the original name [i.e. Xx Xx Xx] and one with the new name [i.e. Yy Yy Yy]. Thus Yy Yy Yy is surprised to learn that technically his real name is Xx Xx Xx. After apologizing for the fact that I only had name Yy Yy Yy since they never thought to give me another name, I jokingly replied that she should have named me Jon Snow [first and middle].

Made her chuckle.

you mean when people get adopted they get renamed?
I did not know that was common

I guess it was just kind of a considerate measure, letting your adoptive parents be the only people to give you a name

So its gonna be THAT kind of day....

Thank God Im a side sleeper..... nothing like waking up to your body throwing up your dinner and spending time in the bathroom before youve even had time to wipe the eye boogers.
Wouldn't you choke if you were sick and laying on your back.

This happened to a few people I know, one boy was in my high school he was 17.

It can happen. Yes.

That is why if you go out drinking (or any other case that may lead to it) you should sleep on your side.

In my case however I am a side sleeper 99.9 % of the time, so it's just gross.

Me neither. I CAN sleep on my back, but only if I fall asleep on my side first and roll in the night (half wake up ready to get out of bed.... but I dont. I have woken up on my back a few times, but always cause I plan on getting out of bed, but my body plans differently).

OMM: I love 100% cranberry juice without sugars and additives. This stuff should be in every medicine cabinet in America.
Cranberry juice is good for not getting urine infections, I use to drink it by the bucket loads at one point.

It's good for all sorts of things. Everything from UTIS to anything that's in the body that shouldn't be. I down about a gallon of the stuff every time I feel ill. It helps with so much.

I think along side the aloe plant, the cranberry is my favorite non meat things to injest. They even have anti cancer properties as well. (Supposedly anyway)

It happens. The seminary I went to is Southern Baptist and most of the graduates stay within the denomination but a good number end up going to the Presbyterian Church. A large number of the people who graduate from the seminary are reformed and as Southern Baptist churches, not all, tend to get worked up about the reformed issue it's hard for the graduates to find a place to call "home" in the denomination.

If it's SBC then there are quite heavy elements of reformed theology in their academia it seems, so it doesn't seem all that surprising they'd go to Presbyterian.

I went to a Churches of Christ school. It's not like a majority end up atheist, but it's a known fact that some people do. I went to the church that a lot of the Bible professors went to and we were the most progressive church in our denomination and the sermons just had a different feel than other churches. It was funny once, he posted a picture of a Greek sign from Jerusalem, and said "let me translate that for y'all..well, for those of you that haven't already."
