CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, I think what does it is all the childhood wishes of "I wish I were older".."I wish I could be older faster".....etc.....
It takes a long time to process those wishes, but once they are processed (Once we grow up) they just keep on coming and wont stop.

The more I witness the snobbery and exclusivity of Christians these days, the more I realize if I had not been saved young, I likely wouldn't have been saved at all. Have we forgotten that we are all wretches too but for the grace of God? I'm so thankful humanity is not our true judge.

...like, seriously?
I find it positively infuriating when someone claims they will always be there for you...but once you ask for help, they suddenly have something to do or some other excuse at the ready...and this is even after YOU have helped THEM many times before. I'm so frustrated right now, I feel like crying.

It is frustrating. I'm sorry this is happening to you. And I don't understand why people always make you do the calling, or the asking... I wish more people offered help, you know? Like "Hey! Is there something I can do for you today?"

You know, guys, I know this has to with politics but I am just going to say it.
I am very disappointed with what a friend of mine from church has posted on FB for all to see. She is a very sweet elderly woman and I believe an overall great example of a kind Christian, but I have seen identity politics bring out her bad side more than once and this time it was flat-out wrong, not a simple matter of seeing things differently from someone else.
She posted this image of Colin Kapernick that had the words "Colin has not been signed on to the NFL. Share if this makes you smile."
Now, there are certainly worse things that can happen to a man than not being able to advance his sports career, but for a Christian - and one who everyone knows is a Christian at that - to say that they are happy that it is this way, just because he protested completely peacefully during the national anthem, is wrong. It doesn't matter whether you agree with him or not; taking any kind of pleasure in someone else's not-so-great fortune for something like this is not Christ-like. Last time I checked, Jesus didn't crack a smile at the thought of the suicidal tendencies that would befall Judas His own betrayer, a betrayal which I think can pretty much be objectively considered a more wicked act than a dude saying aloud "I'm starting to have a problem with the national anthem because I feel my race in this country is getting the short of the stick lately."
Actually calling for others to be happy and smile that bad luck started happening to a dude who simply sat down during the national anthem, is going way too far. It's downright hateful, actually. But I have seen her posts before; whatever news in the world that Republicans or conservative Christians either liked or didn't like, she follows suit. Considering that Lola is, as I have said before, actually normally very sweet and kind, I wonder if she is really even thinking carefully about whether this sentiment is right or wrong before posting it. Same pretty much goes for my FB friends who are Democrat.
And for the love of all that is holy, people, don't let patriotism become your God, to where you don't even consider another person's feelings who may or may not feel racially oppressed but is being peaceful in expressing himself.

So why not condider her feelings and let her peacefully protest? She's done nothing more than what Kaep has done. A lot of Americans are rightfully upset at his behavior. And no, that doesn't mean patriotism is their god either. Im sick of hearing that from people. We can consider ourselves patriots and respect our flag and honor the sacrifices that gave us our freedom without it being "worship".
Keep is full within his rights to protest and so is she.
