  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Getting excited for tomorrow...haha.
Looking back now, this Christmastime was probably not the best one I've had, but it wasn't the worst either. At least we still managed to get almost everything we had planned done! Got all the baking done except for the cake, which my mom and I will do today. She's been teaching me more about how to bake on my own, which is very nice.
I hope everyone's Christmastime has been fun.

We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're are no friends of mine
We can dance, we can dance
Everything's under control.

Heh.

The little things, moments, that you seem to inevitably experience at least once on every Christmas eve/morning.

My father and his longtime friend Howard who he used to work with at the same company, and still live together in Oklahoma, actually asked to come down and spend today and tomorrow with my mother and I in Houston. This is probably the first Christmas they spent significant time together outside of running into each other every now and then while visiting respective sides of the family in Chattanooga. Most of the extended family back in Chattanooga had gone off on their own little adventures this year, so Christmas seemed like it was going to be pretty lonely and boring this time around. But, I guess we made the best of it by being together again, my mother, father, and I (my one sister has her own family now and is gone to South America to see her husband's relatives this time, i believe) in Houston, and of course Howard is pleasant company as well. We even kind of watched this dumb Lifetime movie that had come on the television while we were sitting down and visiting - you know, the kind where you are just sort of looking at the tv every now and again during the conversation to comment on a scene? - about a mother who puts way too much effort into the trappings of Christmas, burns herself out one year and "goes on Christmas strike" when she decides that her husband and two teenage sons do not appreciate her enough for her work. ... naturally I made fun of the mother character because it seems she totally did this to herself when hardly anyone ever asked her to do all this decoration and party stuff. =P But as low-brow and cliche as these Christmas movies on tv always seem to go, we sort of enjoyed it together. And dinner was nice, too, with pleasant conversation about old times and memories of my parents while they were kids in school and had mutual friends and teachers and stuff.

After Howard and my father went back to the hotel they are staying at for this visit just a while earlier, I sat down a few minutes ago to see a notice for Kiara0Yunochida's (a gamer girl I speak with through comments under her videos on occasion) newest video about her mother's way of Christmas decorations. After showing the fully-decorated interior of she and her mother's house for about five minutes in the video, I immediately thought to ask Kiara in a comment below if her mother chose to go on a Christmas strike after putting that much effort into decorum.

Again, it's the little things, I guess. This isn't such a bad Christmas, after all.
