  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have the book but haven't read it yet. I did see the movie though. It was one of the most depressing movies I ever watched. It's exactly how I picture a post-apocalyptic world, none of that Fallout game garbage.
The only one of his movies I've watched is No Country for Old Men. The Sunset Limited looks like it would be good too. Shoot, they've made a good number of his books to movies now that I look at it on Google.

I took a film and literature class several years ago, and we had to read and watch that movie - or that's the one I chose to read and watch. I think there is an element to films that make them more disturbing than books, so I vaguely remember that the film was less graphic than the book. I strangely enjoyed the road movie - i dislike most in that genre - but I doubt I would watch it again. One of my favorite tv shows is Jericho though... :D

Thinking of having BBQ for dinner at the wedding... Too casual?

Nah. My sister-in-law and brother did BBQ at their wedding, and my cousin, who just married a few weeks ago, went with BBQ as well. Both were a hit with the guests. I think it'll be fine.

No. Absolutely not.
My younger cousin hired a group to BBQ (so that my uncles didn't have to do it, although that would have been fun too) and it was one of the best wedding meals I've had.
T'was amazing!

OMM: People who trash criminals on Facebook (and especially those who will go to their Facebook page and harass them) and say awful, dehumanizing things about them are no better than the criminals themselves, and are, I would argue, the scum of the earth moreso than what they say the criminals are.
