Honestly, I don't know. After his incessant melodramatic whining in "Treat You Better", it's pretty much a coin toss as to which of the four artists of subject here would be the most tolerable for me to hear right now.


... I mean, Don't get me wrong. I of all people would certainly be approving of the perceived base principle of this song: be nice to girls, especially the one you love. But let's be honest; what this particular Shawn Mendes song amounts to is this: "Girl, we need to talk. Someone finally needs to intervene in your life and tell you this. I should be the one getting a little on the side with you, not him." (To put that mildly.)

As opposed to the 1980's where many of their love songs would be considered the stalker's anthem today?

True, that. I would assume nothing else but the stalker vibe can be reasonably gleaned from that one 80's song that goes "Every step you make, every breath you take, I'll be watching you", for example. But I will say this: at least 80's stalker-ish songs would be sung in a better voice. Something about Mendes' voice here in "Treat You Better" just really irks me.

At one point it actually sounds like he is screeching out "BETTA DANNY CAN!!!!" instead of "better than he can".

Still, I can never apologize for liking Aha's "Take On Me."

I've been thinking about my dad a lot again. The 15th was the start of deer season and I remember us going up to the cabin every year with my grandpa, my cousin, uncle, and a few other distant relatives. The camp food was amazing. You wouldn't think so reading this, but oysters, pickled bologna, hugh pans full of eggs and bacon, and of course, if anyone shot a deer, we would fry up the steak with onions and potatoes. Even if you never saw any deer, it was such a blessing to just go out in the woods and be in nature.

Nights were the best. We would all play cards or just sit around chatting while cigar smoke hung in the air. We'd all talk about the past, their grandmas and the grandmas before, where the name McGirr came from (they still haven't figured it out even though they debate it every year). Just a lot of good, fun memories

I actually like snow haha, so now I'm beginning to wonder if I should move to Canada someday.

I found the Niagara Falls area quite lovely during my trip there a few weeks ago, so might I suggest that if you ever actually decide to. ^-^

And I think next time I must be more proactive and see the Kingston and Mississauga areas as well, when I come back for a visit next March as I am currently planning.

... Now, if you were to play Shawn Mendes' latest songs on loop in a room where I cannot escape as part of the Canadian hazing routine for those darned southern neighbors of yours, ... then i must admit to being full willing to declare an immediate and unfortunately irrevocable end to our friendship after all.
