Well, generally if you are going to have/start a business you need to charge at least 3-4 times what it costs to make it. So if it cost you a buck per stick to make, in order to turn a profit youd have to sell for no less than about $4 and that would pretty much be to just scrape by.

As for this "mistake" that cashier would have a taste of my fist if they tried to take money from me. If it were a female...... Id do something other than a fist, but it would be just as unpleasant for them. Im a passive and friendly guy, but not if you mess with my money or my lady.
OH I AM SO MAD.
So basically, now that the people have no rebuttle to my why its not an accident.... They have started to knock me down. Then I mentioned that they told me not to judge, but are then judging me. So they come back and say they are not. Then someone is like "Oh she must be a christian" and people are saying I think people should be perfect.
Ah well. Im unfollowing the post and just letting it go. I dont even know these people.

You should definitely do it. I would buy one...^_^ I'm all about natural stuff.

Well if you are about "all natural stuff....... don't use any chapstick at all........ nothing more natural than bleeding out your face and letting your body take care of it. :sput:

 Im sorry they are saying that, but let the people talk. The funny thing about so called "tolerant" people, they are about the LEAST tolerant people on the planet if you disagree with them. :mmh: Go figure.

Also I wasnt thinking of making this a business to make a ton of money on, just some extra cash here and there.

Understood, but even to make that extra side money on, the rules of 3-4 times cost to make apply. Otherwise youd be SPENDING money, not making it. (Even in small quantities.)

The reasons why a lot of companies can charge less is because they deal in volume. So, lets say they take a loss in the 3-4 times category. If they sell a VERY high number of product... even if its not 3-4 times the cost... they STILL make a profit through the bulk of the sale.

Sony for example. They took a cost hit per unit on one of their gaming consoles when it first released..... however, due to the sheer volume of sales they had, they turned profit in the long run.

It costs less than a dollar to make one. xD

Most things do. :p

Car parts for example..... a 10 cent part cost $70.

Thats why cars today are garbage. They dont want to spend an extra 10-20 cents for a quality part per vehicle. So you end up with a car that is nothing but how many corners the company can cut and still charge an arm and a leg for.

Honestly, Id rather pitch in the extra 10 cents on top of the cost of my car to get an old fashioned style car/tank.

See, you say it's easy.
It's also easy to get horribly wrong, if you want fancy natural stuff with fancy natural scents. People have done some awful things by getting it wrong.
Easier still is to get someone else to make it, then pay them for doing it well.

My mother things art (painting, drawing, all that fun stuff) is easy because she can do it. So she gives away some absolutely beautiful pieces, because she doesn't feel it's worth asking people for even the cost of materials. So she's constantly amazed that I fail miserably at it.

On a similar note I can't make a decent chapstick or lipstick to save my life. It's a skill, a skill I have no patience for.

That and I've just totted up the ingredients, and it would cost more to make than I'm willing to spend, at least for personal consumption. :sorry:.

Thanks, guys.

I think I over-estimated my ability to have a good time even if my friends don't show up. Because they definitely aren't here, and I'm.... just... well, lost.

The lake is gorgeous today, prettier than usual. For some reason, I am nervous about swimming in it, though.

but thats because people dont have the tools to make it.
Chapstick is easy.
I actually make lipstick too. xD

I disagree, if you have duct tape..... just about everything can be fixed or "made". :p

Well see, thats all the more reason to charge as much as possible. If they want to save their money they will make their own. If you make it for them, you can charge what you like. If they aren't willing to pay it, they don't have to. You aren't pointing a gun at anyone.

I think its those needs that people DON'T have the means to make it themself that should be cheaper. Thats why if one knows what they are doing........ Home Depot can also be Autozone as well. :D

@KandiJo, you should make raspberry lip balm. Or something like a strawberry sherbert flavor. I LOVE berry things lol I would definitely order some.

See? They are already lining up and you havent even set prices on things yet. :p

I can see it now, Toro, the black market Kandi dealer.

You set your prices at 20 each at stores....... I charge 10 on the black market which I buy them 4-5 each from you and BAM we are set. ;)

My sister gets 250 euro a painting. I used to make banners for churches. One thing would take me a week to make it and one I gave to someone, one wanted to buy it for 50 euro and another one too. I thought: Hey this is big business, but then he said ehm well at the moment we have no money lol so they got it for free. I was just bored and liked making something. I wouldn't do it for almost nothing for everyone, because it was a lot of work.

Huge amounts of work. Anyone who can do anything in that area gets my applause and awe.

============================

On the chapstick front... am I the only person who has a chapstick thing that has lasted for 5 years? Should I be more liberal in my application? How often does one purchase a tube of chapstick/lip balm? Does it ever go bad?

Perhaps I should throw my old tube away, I'm sure it has touched far too many lips to be sanitary.

I will have to find me a van for my black market dealings........

Just whatever you do, dont go out of business to where I have to give my stock of chapsticks away to unload them.

Driving around in a van that says "Free Kandi" is not my style. :p
