  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, the author Richard Wurmbrand was from Romania. He spent 14 years in a communist prison and then later founded the Voice of the Martyrs
Wurmbrand, that's his name. lol. I couldn't remember. It's absolutely amazing what he suffered and what he accomplished in spite of it.

I suddenly feel lazy and childish for reading Jack Reacher novels my last few days off. XD

I've started reading Tortured for Christ at the suggestion of a friend. It's very intense and somber, but also uplifting at the same time.

A really thought provoking quote from the book: we should never stop at having won a soul for Christ. by this, we have done only half the work. every soul won for Christ must be made to be a soul winner.

It's a good reminder that this is our true purpose in life.
The best relation I ever heard to spreading the gospel, the one that's stuck with me ever since I've heard it and I imagine will stick with me till the end of my days is the relation to Christians spreading the gospel to the Israelites taking over Canaan.

We are Israel. Whether you're an Israelite by blood or grafted into the commonwealth of Israel, we're one in Christ and we're one Israel - there is no separation.
Israel now has a new mission on the earth. How incredible it is to read when the Israelite's entered into Canaan and took over the promised land... the stories, the bravery, the salvation... how much more incredible is our calling.

How one the Israelite's were in their calling, their destiny... how much more so are we with Christ's love in our hearts.

It is really incredible. What is most touching is how much love he had for his torturers. My mom heard him speak as a guest speaker at a church in Toronto many years ago. She said he had to sit and his body was all mangled

Don't feel lazy:) This is the first book of substance that I've read in months. It's one of my goals this year to read more Christian and theological works.

That's so amazing, and so cool your mom got to hear him speak.

Don't give me permission to be lazy! you'll create a monster!

But we, we could all benefit from some theological and serious Christian works.

I was actually thinking that we could create a thread like the fitness thread to discuss various Christian books

This guy just told me that the Brown belt ranking does not exist in taekwondo in an attempt to undermine me. I mean, maybe not in certain schools, but, ... I am pretty sure i didn't just have a 3 year-long hallucination of training in this style of martial arts and ascending all the way to this precise color of rank.

Maybe he's been doing RexKwanDo.

I would have roundhouse kicked him in the face right then and there

I attended a few sessions of that at my former school in Marshall when they started holding Krav Maga classes on weekends. And man, that could be physically demanding, especially when they put you in the center of the ring to practice holding off multiple assailants who are circling you for five minutes straight. It doesn't sound like a long time at first, but it's the longest five minutes of your life and there is no pause button. O_O

Well, the roundhouse kick WAS one of my more proficient moves in those days =P, even though it has little value in point sparring, being easily telegraphed. Unfortunately, I can't roundhouse a dude over the Internet if he antagonizes me. ^-^ I don't know why i even bothered to look at this guy's reply to some comment I made like a year ago on a YT vid of Van Damme holding a kick out in front of a bad guy's face. Apparently he thought I was bragging or something about being a mere Brown belt in the art and felt he had to take me down a peg by denouncing me as a liar ... because I misspelled taekwondo due to auto-correct. Again, i made that comment a long time ago and not even being a black belt yet is hardly anything to brag about in the grand scheme of things (No disrespect intended to you there, Mr. Codyfaith), since in my opinion you are really only demonstrating a potential for becoming a STUDENT by rising through the color ranks up to black. And from there you are truly only just beginning.
