  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I burned my wrist last night. Very small and barely noticeable but it broke my main rule. It left a mark. 18 years without self harm down the drain. I have therapy today at least but I'm afraid to open up to them about how bad I feel.

OMM: I feel ready to make changes, but don't know where to start. There's so many things and I feel restless yet hopeful when I think about it. I know I'm not in a position of opportunity right now, but maybe God will help me out.

I hope to see some answered prayers soon!

Therapy is there for a reason. If you're starting to hurt yourself again, then I think it's time to open up to them.

Now come here and give me a hug!

Thanks I just don't want to get hospitalized again. I'll probably tell them though.

Praying for you. If ever you wish to talk or vent, my inbox is always open. I used to do self harm as well. You're not alone!

Yeah girl! That is encouraging that you want to make changes. I would suggest starting with prayer and then making a small goal. It doesn't have to be anything big, just start small and work up from there. If I can help you in any way please shoot me a message. I'll be praying for you.

Lots of little small goals, done well, and done consistently. That's all anyone needs to do.

Ultimately, consistency is one of only two ways to success. The other way is failure, ironically. And you need them both, because hard work ain't worth a damn without them.

Instant gratification is not your friend. Stress is.

Anyway, on my mind. I wish I was a Teletubbie. Life just looks so fun.

Praying as well! I've always learned that sometimes getting places requires a step of faith. Just...go do something. We often think of change as this big, huge step, but it doesn't have to be. It can be tiny and seemingly insignificant.

This.

Things take time to come to be.

Galatians 6:7 - "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Realistically we aren;t likely to make huge changes in life and stick with them for extended times. If you want major change in your life.... start small.

If you want to learn more- take a class, then two.... etc.

If you want to get in shape.... dont put yourself through the most extreme workout.

If you want to eat better..... one less cheeseburger a week until you are where you want to be. Diets dont work.... life changes do.

If you want to cut soda.... one less a day is a good start.

Etc... THOSE are the changes that stick.

Thats why so many people fail at "new years resolutions" not because they dont "want it" they go about it the wrong way. For one, if you want change, no time like the present.

The "I'll wait til ______" is an excuse to enjoy the now what it is you claim you want to change.

Im a procrastinator so I hate the "now" theory... but its truth.

Make small changes, baby steps in the direction you want to go and don't beat yourself up if you take a step back here or there.... just keep on with the baby steps.

None of us got where we are in our vices/habits or anything else we would like to change over night.... we got here over time.... it will take time to retrain ourselves in a manner of change we desire that will stick.

So far I have cut smoking and soda from my life (two addictions I thought Id never beat) Sure, I could beat myself up the time or two I caved in, in 2016 and smoked a cig.... but instead of focusing on those 2 times I caved and allowed myself to smoke (which made me dislike the taste and want a cig even less, so my caving helped a bit more in cementing my quitting) Id rather focus on the 363 days I didn't have a cig.

When we try to change. The voice in the back of our head loves to defeat us so we fall back into what is comfortable when we "fail" or fall short of what we desired. Thats why its important to focus on the little victories and allow God to change us over time in His time.... rather than the rush result wed all love to have.

Like thos old cartoons...... the tiny pebble rolls down the snowy hill/mountain..... builds up into a huge wrecking ball to the side of Goofy's house..... it starts as the little pebble then becomes unstoppable. If it started as a huge bolder it would have simply gone thud... moved a few inches and then not gone anywhere.

Oh, yes, I intend to start small as going over the top is not something I'm comfortable with. I'm a stick-a-toe-in-the-water type person and not a just-jump-in type.

And thank you for the prayers as well!

Long, long day is finally over! I can now relax Finished a book for a client, so I put in overtime so I can potentially give myself a 3 day weekend. It's much needed!

The person who had the appointment after mine must have heard the screaming from my neighbor and bailed. So they decided to work on me extra long... Somehow survived. I am the Marathon Man.

Good to hear! Was praying

OMM:
I wonder why people keep trying to predict Jesus' return. He plainly said no one will know, but they keep trying.
