  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Is that a quote? I seem to recall reading that somewhere before...

It's paraphrased from a quote I posted it in Meh's quote thread, I originally heard it from Jon Stewart on the Late Show during the Republican National Convention.

This country does not belong to conservatives or liberals, it never has or will. There is no "real America" or "traditional America". Nobody owns patriotism, love of our freedoms, or the "right" view of what the American government should look like and do.

This could have been a decent quote had it not been a quote from a guy who wakes up pulling bong hits and goes to bed drunk and with many women, that is the television personalities lifestyle, they work for the devil not Jesus and His America.

This country does not belong to liberals or conservatives but it is filled with both and for some weird reason the liberals seem to concentrate on the cost while the conservatives tent to be in middle America.

There is a traditional America and you would have to watch reruns of Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, and Happy Days to find it.

Before the drug culture/pop culture of the six's we live in traditional America. Most everybody except for a few loose screws had the same basic beliefs and that is why we prospered because united we stood and divided we will fall.

Pre1960 drug culture most everybody believed in God Given rights, most believed in family morals and Christian morals. About the only thing that divided the Democrats and Republicans was that Republicans tended to give big corporations tax breaks while Democrats tended to give small business owners tax breaks.

But over all you probable could not see any noticeable difference between a Democrat or Republican just by talking to them.

Most everybody believe in the right to keep and bear arms, most everybody knew that abortion was wrong and not a woman's personal right, some believe in small military budget and some believed in large military budgets but everybody believed in serving their country and nobody better talk badly about America or you very possible could have gotten beat.

No, at one time in traditional America we were all one with small differences but today we are not even close to being one and we are dived and we can not stand being a divided nation.

This millennial generation has never seen traditional America and how it once was so it is very easy to brainwash you into believing a modern liberal point of view.

We worked and played hard and we were tuff and respected.

You guys will never know the greatness we once were.

Not sure if losing fat and gaining muscle at similar rate......

or if my fat is staying put and Im made of fail. :| (I know it takes time)

Of course, I haven't had sodas and its only been a couple weeks since I went from a case of Dr Pepper a day to green tea.

Oh well..... at least I feel lighter and fitter. Even if my scale reads about the same.

Gj man.

What are you doing for workouts? It could be muscle. When you start working out as a beginner you gain muscle very easily. Even pushups to a person who doesn't workout can cause quite a bit of muscle gain.

Thanks.

Yeah, I know it comes fast for about the first year then trails off the more advanced lifter. I used to work out all the time, then I got back into my cigarette addiction. So my lifting disappeared and I got lazy. Kind of hard to give it your all on the bench press when you're hacking up something that looks like escargot. :p

This time that I quit smoking (no intention of going back).... I gained weight in the form of fat for the first time in my life. Up til now I was fit even without working out.... so losing my abs is NOT okay with me. I don't care if most people my age let themselves go for the sake of beer and BBQ. I are bull.... can not be soft and doughy bull. :|

So Im learning. I've never been one for nutrition. Calories, sugars, etc. I just ate a whole bunch of dead things and that was that. Need more protein? Add another patty of dead cow in the burger.... metabo wont let it go to my midsection.... so why worry.

Now, Im pretty confident that cutting out my sodas will drop most if not all my midsection doughyness. After all with my soda addiction I was taking in over 1600 calories just with the soda alone and well over 400 grams of sugar and carbs.... again... just in the soda consumption alone. (With tea.... which I use sugar in..... I still consume sugar but only 4 grams per drink compared to 40 )

I just miss my soda and wish it would melt away faster so I know its worth it. :| *stares at Ice cold dr pepper commercial.... reaching for it*

I hear ya on the first time in your life gaining weight that's fat.

I was really fit as a teen and in my first few years in my 20's... now because my mental state hasn't been the greatest I've gained like 25 extra lbs and it ain't muscle. Not cool with me either.

I'm gonna hit the cardio real soon here with the pastor at my old church...picked the wrong season to start though, especially considering where I live. Apparently it's a bad winter this year too for us lol. Anyway hopefully that combined with weight training and I'll shed off this fat. Would like to see my abs clearly by the end of it. I'm 175lbs now or so right now, most I've ever been in my life as I'm only 5'6 &1/2. Have quite a bit of muscle on me, but still have too much excess fat.
Goal is to get down to around 145-150.

Will power is what I'm really struggling with in exercising. At first I was like "let's do this!!" and on a roll. Not over doing it, just perfectly hitting it. Now when I wake up in the morning I have to drag myself to do any of it. I didn't expect it to be fun obviously, I just expected it to go better I guess.

I'm trying to exercise too but quitting pop is a challenge. It's like those Montana Meth Project PSA's.

"I'm going to try this can of pop just once... I won't be like that guy..."

"I'm just going to have this 500 Ml bottle of pop just once... I won't be like that guy..."

"Look, I'm just having this 1 L bottle of pop just once, okay? I won't be like that guy..." :disrelieved:

"I'M ONLY HAVING A 2L BOTTLE OF POP JUST ONCE! I WON'T BE LIKE THAT GUY--" :tired:

:dead:

Toro: "I'm going to have this can of Dr Pepper just once... I won't be like that guy..."

Pop. Not even once.
