  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

It's starting to get cold out and all my mind can think is
I CANT WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS!!!

& snow. I love snow. Magical.

I wish it was starting to get old here. It was 88 this afternoon...man I hate this city, I belong in the north.

Getting out of the grubby cell of self- heard this on the radio, a feat of epic proportions. I don't know if I can. I'm trying not to be so self absorbed.

You certainly never appeared that way to me here, Galatea, thus far.

You heard Cody Faith, Matt. Come with me, there to his world, instead. ^_^

I myself must actually tell Mama Knight this weekend that I am being urged forward by the Spirit to wait no longer and get back to working on the move North. I had left it alone after moving to Houston a year ago, thinking there was no need to hurry. But now ....

I am, though. One thing that gives me hope is a quote I read "To try to be better is to be better." And I know one of the best quotes, "He that has begun a good work in you is faithful to perform it."

Thank you, it was very sweet to wake up and read your message.

I did not expect that my words would affect you this positively (my simply saying that you never seemed like a self-absorbed person to me from your time here so far) but since they have, then it is my pleasure. *bows*

It is only that I was not treated very well on another forum and called a hypocrite, among other things- so people online being kind is like Heaven by comparison. I had been anguished in my mind about being called a hypocrite, but was listening to a Bible study this morning, and the pastor was teaching that hypocrites play a part and are not really converted. I know I am saved, and not a hypocrite, not "playing a part". I think after you've been abused, any friendly word is so much more valuable just by comparison.

I wouldn't let other people "move" you like that. Ask God for His peace and that only He can "move" you. After asking God that, my heart has been so still so that no one phases me when being name-called from the Bible (which no one is suppose to do anyway). If our heart is not "moved" by others, then we can concentrate ever more on His message in love to those who do/say such things.

You also have to keep in mind (as do I at times) that they just don't know what it is they are doing or saying. It's just as Jesus and Stephen has said: Then Jesus said, "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do." Luke 23:34

They were stoning Stephen as he called out: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” And saying this, he fell asleep. Acts 7:59-60

Thank you, you are right. I tend to be overly sensitive, and I was hurt. I must admit that I had said some horrible things to the person, so am not innocent- and actually MORE guilty because I am saved and the other person is not. God holds me to a higher standard than the other person, and I failed Him.
I think the person may have called me that because I was not living close to God at the time and had said some hateful things, so I was not a good witness. I have asked the person and God to forgive me. I know God has and I think the person has, but I don't know for sure.
Thanks for your words. God has actually given me peace about it just this morning through a Bible study. So I need not agonize over it anymore.
Thanks again. I can tell you are a genuine believer in Christ.

I must admit, your transparency is admired. I was hurt a lot as well, like most people, and I too did not live a Godly life even though I believed. Neither was I innocent, and yet Father forgave me for all I had done and said and made me white instead of scarlet. All I had to do was ask. ;)

Perhaps it was God saying "hey, don't be like them. Be My Child." So, people calling you (or me) those things are not off the mark. The only way it would be off the mark is how we react to it. For example: Was God calling me a hypocrite or a viper? (yep, I was called that) No. He was saying do not be like them. God has a way of speaking and that we must learn the way He speaks to us. :) I hope that makes sense.

You did not fail Him. You and I both, for a time in our lives, rebelled against Him. That is why I recited those passages because I was once one of those people that did not know what I did or said and what for. I rebelled against Him, and then I realized what it was I was doing and went back to Him and He received me with open arms. Like the Prodigal Son: Luke 15:11-32

Thanks! As I can see you are trying to get to know Jesus and how He lived on earth and lives through us even now. May God bless you! (and our enemies)

So, wow. Everything's different. I like the new look but CF is so slow now compared to what it used to be. That's too bad really.

So I'm just a traveler checking in to catch up with the happenings of old stomping grounds, and I hope everyone is doing well. You may or may not see me around for a bit in the near future. If not, it's good to see some old faces still posting here.

Thank you for your sweetness. I've been a Christian since age 12, so not a baby, just a prodigal. I think God moved you to write that, it has always been one of my favorite parables in the Bible. Really, I am feeling sorry for myself for being called a hypocrite. I did not realize until today the depth of the hurt I caused, and exactly what it was I so foolishly destroyed. Being called a hypocrite was really nothing in comparison to what I did and the great sin I hastily committed. But, I know God is good and will restore me to fellowship with Him.
I am sorry you were called a hypocrite and viper, it is obvious to me you are a Christian.

You're from Murcia? Nice place. VERY humid from what I recall, but nice none the less.

Lots of unfinished golf courses too. What's with that?

With teaching, it's hard enough to move states, much less countries! I'll likely end up staying in the states and end up settling back in Colorado or possibly even a place cooler summers like the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, etc.

Vail, Colorado has to be one of my favorite places in the states.

I lived in Colorado for five months (January-May) last year. I loved it, but I really had no choice but to move back to Houston.
