  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Putting my best friend in the ground has got to be one of the toughest things I've ever done. I've fallen back into the dangerous ruts of my sins, and by God, I can't let that happen. Please pray for me.

Jonathan had a proper sendoff: he was buried with both a rapier and a vampire hunter sword in his casket.

He always said he wanted a dramatic death, hacked to pieces on the field of battle. Considering his body was ripped in two, he got his wish. Appropriately, a few songs from the Skyrim soundtrack will be played at the memorial service.

There are so many things I wish I had the chance to tell him, but after he got married and had the baby, I was afraid to disturb him. I should have just gone ahead. As the song goes, Kiss while your lips are still red... hold another hand while the hand's still without a tool. I was able to contribute to the obituary (editing and many suggestions), so that was nice.

There has been an immense amount of good, however. Several people have come under conviction and a dear friend of mine who held Jonathan as he died has come back to the Lord. Medically Jonathan should not have been conscious, but he was, and as he was cradled, he was at peace and in no pain. He broke eye contact with our friend and, looking past him, he smiled and his eyes lit up; it was at this moment our friend 'felt' someone right behind him. Looking behind him, no one was there, and when he looked back to Jonathan, he was dead.

I share your pain, my friend. Two years ago I lost my best friend to Liver cancer. I couldn't visit her one last time, and golly, I wish I could have, but she was in another state and the trip was just not possible. Over the weeks I had to watch her health deteriorate, online, and couldn't even go see her. It was painful, and her death was a hard blow to me. I am praying for you!

Agh. I understand. Her long, protracted ordeal must have been agonising for you especially being out of state. :(

Death is an unwelcome guest whether he forces open the door or if he steals through the door gradually opening.

You have my condolences, Mr. Hawthorne. *bows* :prayer:

And you as well, Lizzie, for the friend you lost two years ago.

Thankfully I myself have never had to go through that particular scenario when it comes to death of a friend, at least not one in my inner circle who is close to my own age and likely shares most interests and all, but I imagine it is no easier than seeing a family member or spouse off to the grave.

Some girls just don't know to live.

Yeah, well that's okay, because my mom tells me I'm special on the inside. Also, rather than ordering pizza, I'd have homemade it 8)

OMM: Trying to decide what to wear for day two of Comic Con. I want to come up with something on the unique side.

My ideas so far:
  • Joker and Harley (genders switched)
  • Asuna and Kirito from Sword Art Online
  • Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (Red Guy and Yellow guy)
  • Mulan and Li Shang
  • Vampira and Zombie Clay from Plan 9 from Outer Space
  • Samwise Gamgee and Rosie Cotton fron LOTR
  • Master Chief and Cortana
  • Eren and Female Titan from Attack on Titan
  • Charlie and Claire from LOST
  • Spyro and Sparx
  • Ralph and Vanelope Von Sweets from Wreck it Ralph
  • Danny and Sandy from Grease
  • Boq and Glinda from Wicked
  • Phantom and Christine
Thoughts?
OOooooooh.... A genderswap Harley would be hard to pull off, me thinks ;P

Kirito and Asuna from SAO would be cool, but so would so many others on your list. As for things not on your list- Men in Black works well as a duo. Link and Zelda.

I truly believe your friend is in paradise. Especially because of the last paragraph, powerful. I've heard of stories like that before.

Sorry for your loss.

I am truly, truly sorry for your loss. That was a tender hearted post and I'm sure the hardest. I'm sorry that words are the only comfort I, and many others, can bring.

Thank you for your words. That means a lot. I won't lie; I still grieve her death, but I know she would rather her friends be happy than to be sad and crying over her.

There have always been Catholic women who have worn the mantilla, and recently it has enjoyed a great resurgence among young women. If anything, it seems to me like they're more popular now than they've been at any point in my lifetime. :)

I do agree completely: head-covering is not a bad word.

I have also noticed that headcovering has enjoyed a great resurgence among Chrisitian women. Often it is teen girls setting the example and getting the movement started too. Good for them. Young Catholic women do have the power to change what the church looks like.
