Well as you might see I've posted 1 lullaby and 1 song on these boards in the past two days, and I think song writing is much easier than poetry.
A poem has as much value as you and others are willing to give it. Consider a poem such as 'The Road Not Taken' by Robert Frost. It is very well known and is taught in schools. It has value because quite aside from its own poetic value (how well it is written) many readers/listeners are able to identify or understand the experience in the poem. If you wrote a poem about your boyfriend then it might only have value between the two of you regardless of how well it is written. I mean is your mum going to identify with those sentiments? If generally written maybe, if specifically written I'd be worried if she did.![]()
Well that makes sense... sort of. I think liking or not liking something that would fall under the term entertainment or art would always be subjective anyways just like the source where it comes from would obviously be a subjective point of view. Someone would think a political song or movie or what have were the best thing ever made because it expresses a valid opinion and someone else would hate it for the same reason... They might appreciate beauty or a story more then the intention behind it instead. But then, is something worth more then another thing if more people are willing to pay for enjoying it? Or can a private value be a higher one?
Not having a computer. Darn, at least my phone has internet.
That I am now going to be very late for work, because the trains are all late. Great!
Woot! Cause it's not my fault. (I work for the railway where I live)
