I had a great day today. I needed it. It was enough to block out my hard night last night... and as if my night wan't already horrible I dreamt of my grandmother. :( It was so wonderful to hear her voice again.

Edit: It was more like a bitter-sweet dream, not entirely horrible.

I wonder if I'm too serious and intellectual for guys. Guys seem to want someone fun, light-hearted, and uncomplicated (or at least less complicated). I suppose I'm fun in my own way, but I'm not one for the light-hearted, quick zingers sort of humor. I'm just not. I'm not a prankster or generally silly. I'm quirky and will sing and dance in grocery stores, but that's different. I mean silly in every day type interaction and in conversations with people, which should be noticeable from my posts on CF. I'm too serious for banter. And I'm not flirty.

I like to talk about politics and other things that are not light hearted and will bring out the feisty in me. Some people think I'm mad when I'm like that, but really I'm just revved up. I'm not into pink and frills and stuff like that. I'm not sweet and demure. I'm not a princess; I'm a feminist. I'm sarcastic. I'm a little too blunt. And this post is just another example that I'm a little too open.

I don't intend to change the core of who I am for anyone. I've tried that in the (thankfully distant) past and that didn't work out too well. I need to be me. It's just frustrating sometimes to feel like I'll never find my match. Maybe I don't have one. I really like to think there is at least one guy out there, though, who is a good match for me and we'll get together and stay together. I feel like I've lost the thread of my thought, so I'll stop there.

It's funny to see one of my cousins slightly change the spelling of his last name to make a new one. Funny because I've been thinking of doing something similar. I think my sister would be irritated if I did, but oh well. And having a new name might confuse some of my offline people, though none of them will be so foolish as to think it means I got married.

One reason I kind of want to is privacy. I've already taken down my city (never had my address or phone number up), education, work, and political view. Sure the government and corporations have access to my info through other ways (and it's not like I see ads anyway, with lovely ad blocking apps from Chrome), but after reading a couple of articles about Facebook and privacy (or lack thereof) and seeing a couple of conspiracy-type youtube videos about that subject, I don't want to just be handing out my personal information on silver platter. There's supposed to be software that can get through the privacy settings, too, and if someone wants info on me, they'll have to work for it. Am I too paranoid? Maybe.

Sure I could just get rid of Facebook entirely, but it's the only place I can keep in touch with some people and it is fun. I don't suppose it helps my privacy to "like" (and follow in the news feed) things that reveal info about me, but I do like the news feed function and Twitter doesn't have as many good people/places/business to follow. Oh Twitter is so annoying with some of those tweets that have all of that code-y looking garbage in them (I'm not talking about one simple #insertstuffhere). Anway....
