I know that people use icons to get a little background on a person making a post. (And I used to think they were fun, but for some reason I currently see them as unnecessary clutter, with the nuisance of trying to categorize me.) Knowing the perspective they come from helps in truly understanding some posts, especially the more serious ones.

However, CF says I'm a legend. If that's true, most CFers don't need icons to know me or where I'm coming from anyway. And newbies (or those who just visit now and then) can just try to read my posts with an open mind until they can establish a personality behind the posts.

I don't need to have a gender icon for people to know I'm female (especially if they have sigs visible). The avatar makes that kind of plain and only tricksy CFers like Noodles can make people confused about gender. The faith icon is nice, but no icon can really explain my faith and religious views (maybe I'm not as complicated as I think I am, but I do know that seeing a UMC icon doesn't truly show people what I all believe faith-wise).

I was having fun with the Sierra Leone flag, but I am in a much colder place in actuality. The flag I'd like to show (despite the people currently running this state) is the Wisconsin flag. I feel more like a Wisconsinite than an American. And I didn't previously have a political icon up because there isn't an option for "they all suck."

Yes, that is all. (But I said people should be able to guess my gender through it, since I don't know any guys under 60 who go by Shelly. The only guy I know who does, is over 60 and his full name is Sheldon.)

Thank you for posting that for me.

I sometimes wish I knew which people were open to using their real names on here because at times, I post seriously and I want to address that person by name, but I want to be respectful of that person's privacy also... so I just try to refrain from using real names altogether. Sometimes.

How is it that I can go from feeling that although I don't love being single, I'm okay, to seeing a FB status (of a person I know locally) of loneliness and feeling really lonely myself. Is it just that I'm sympathetic? No, I think it's entirely selfish. Maybe it's easy to put aside thoughts of loneliness (because I'm single and why torture myself) until I see someone else who has the pain that I may not always want to acknowledge.

Sometimes, its so hard to tell other Christians you are struggling with things. Its nice to have someone acknowledge that your walk can be very hard at times. Its nice when you can openly talk about the Lord with someone, and show your range of emotions. Its nice.
